Templates_engine error

I imported a game from OOTP 23. I have had this save since 2020 so it's really valuable to me. I've spent an immeasurable amount of time on it.

Just recently bought OOTP 24 and imported the save, and I cant even advance one single day in the offseason without getting multiple "templates_engine" errors.

not sure what to do. as mentioned I have imported my save into the new OOTP versions each year since 2020 and never had an issue.

help!

That can happen sometimes if you have saved a local templates copy in your save game. If you save game has a templates/ folder in it, we pull in from there. If you have an older template in there, and something has changed, that could cause those errors. If you don't have anything specific in there you want to keep, you can likely delete that folder, restart the game, and you should be able to continue normally.

thank you – how would I even begin to find that folder?

aside from the starting local directories, all game folders are in their default locations, as an FYI.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated thanks

I went into the game save folder and deleted the entire templates folder and restarted the game and the same thing happened.

What's the exact error message popup that you are seeing? Knowing the full text can help us see what check exactly is failing.

If they're all similar, even just a couple screenshots will help. Usually they will all be related.

This can sometimes happen if you don't have write permission in some of the folders OOTP is trying to save to.

The easiest potential fix would be to run OOTP in admin mode if you're on a PC.

UPDATE: ootp support was able to help me fix this

end result was pretty simple. delete the "template" folder in the game save, and restart OOTP
