Shopping players for cash/trades for cash

I have never been able to really figure out how to make this work. Say i shop a player, a team is interested, but i don't want to rob them of a prospect for my mediocre player. Any strategies on just trading a player for cash? Ive tried $1 and the AI would rather trade me their decently rated propsect.

I know this has probably been asked a ton. Just wasnt sure if there was a way to make this work in the new game.

I find AI undervalues cash. I've gotten $5M for a AAAA player before and increments of it by adding one more warm body. I think it's something you just have to fudge.
