I have only now seen the Talladega race, which was broadcast with 2 1/2 days' delay on that third-rate sports channel I pay lotta dosh for to bring me NASCAR (I probably have to write to my member of the Bundestag about that one ), but, wow, the onboard camera of Ryan Precce slamming into Kyle Larson hurts just from watching.

37 laps in, four mangled cars @ Dover. What are we gonna run out of first today - laps or cars?

Martin Truex jr. holds off Wrecking Ball McMelonhead on a late restart!

Good!!

I especially liked the earlier lap when they put Larson another lap down after Chastain earlier flung a backmarker into Larson, ruining the latter's race, and Larson played it nice for 300 laps, but then parked his wrecked bottom in front of Chastain and managed to cost him over a second on Truex in one lap.

Chastain is a first-class knucklehead, seemingly ruining the day of good racers every Sunday. Glad to see that Larsen - a cool guy who probably had the fastest car before the #1 did what the #1 does - was able to effect a small measure of payback without risking harm to anyone.

I'm thinking at some point the other big-name racers are going to say enough is enough, and let Ross know to either cool it, or plan on having half the field ready to put him into the wall. In fact, I'm surprised they've put up with his antics for this long.

I've ranted about the obsession with showing fans instead of the action just recently, but I like how the broadcast kept going back to the middle-aged couple - him in a Larson shirt, her in Trackhouse gear - while Chastain and Larson were ramping up to their inevitable crash on the restart, and then Mike Joy remarking, "...and these two get to go home together!"

Also Bill Elliott: "Children. Put them in the sandbox, and they can't play together!"

And somehow Byron evaded two poor pit stops and two wrecks ahead of him to lead the race. C'mon William! Go get 'em!

Edit: WIN!!

Knucklehead Chastain continuing to do Chastain things...

Rick Hendrick I think makes a good point, one that I would think Chastain's team owners would take notice of - even if Chastain himself is too stupid or too stubborn to realize: that it's going to be hard to seriously contend for a championship when all you're doing is making enemies.

Yeah, he's been in a loud crash for four straight weeks.

Talladega - started with Gragson (although I tend do blame Gragson more for that one) the crash that led to the frightening T-bone wreck of Preece into Larson
Dover - punted Poole into Larson
Kansas - punched Gragson in the face
Darlington - Truex made a rookie move, no charges there, but he then drove like a dolt in every restart in the last stage until he finally crashed with Larson

Honestly, if Larson was to miss the title race, but Chastain made it, he should just slam Chastain into the nearest fence on lap 1.

I think after four laps I can safely say that this is the dumbest NASCAR race I've watched in a long old time.

Wasn't quite around for the inaugural race at Talladega, but that one might still have a fender ahead.

I wonder how many $$$ you could have made by betting a hundo on *Chris Buescher* winning back-to-back races before this season.

And two more wins than his boss, Brad K. Buescher seems like a genuinely nice guy, too, which is cool.

When was the last time the other boss, Jack Roush, was seen at a race? I can't remember seeing him in awhile. But in doing a bit of internet searching on that subject, I found some articles indicating how RFK Racing has seriously dissed NASCAR and Roush-Fenway legend Mark Martin. I'd think that Brad K - who would've had nothing to do with any rift upon Martin's long ago departure from RF, and who is now the face of ownership of RFK - would've done the right thing here. But he seems at times to be a bit of d-bag and I guess this confirms it...

The #6 driver is no doubt a bit of a … special case.

Jack Roush is over 80 and has had his share of health issues in the past. But I also can't tell when I saw him during a broadcast in recent times.

I listened to bits from Dale jr.'s talk with Greg Biffle a while ago, and it appears that whatever Jack Roush was doing in the 90s worked great, but he kept doing it in the 2000s and 2010s and as other teams went with the times and became more analytical and simulators and whatnot, things at Roush just stayed the same, which is why the team ended up in the quicksand.

Well, we saw Jack Roush pre-race, and we see Byron in victory lane post-race.

Okay, I think we need a new field o' cars after this one.

Byron missing a big one that breaks out right in his lap? That's something new - maybe he IS the chosen one this year!

Carson Hocevar getting 5th in stage 2 in the turquoise senior citizen mobility scooter is seriously impressive.

Welcome to the big leagues, Carson Hocevar. This is where Keselowski wrecks the field whenever he can.

If he can't, Logano is always happy to lend a hand.
