Getting MLB Rookies assigned to Original Teams
Hey Folks, TIA to start....
So I started a select 10 team league, 2 divvies of 5 teams each. Dumped other teams players in FA Pool with a free 2 round draft for all teams to take players of their choice with no restrictions. Well I tried to set the rookies to debut with their original teams and as I moved forward to next year the rookies did not appear, actually none did. I checked the on-line help and guide and made sure I checked the correct boxes and the only way i got to get rookies was to click on Rookie Draft - which is not what I wanted, wanted players assigned to original teams. What am I missing? I have run duplicate leagues to try to figure this out and am at a loss. Thoughts....

The settings are disable draft and assign rookies to historical teams. For some reason they're on different pages. Have to do both. Other than that I have no idea.

Ok we had 10 owners willing to do this.
So we chose 10 teams from AL/NL from the 1961 season. Used rosters for all teams and teams not selected their players were dumped into FA Pool. Split into two divisions AL/NL So yes, in one way it is/was a historical league ubt when i only used 10 teams did I invalidate the historical settings? Does this help you? U can PM me if youwish and if that helps...thanks

Did import the teams or did you do a historical 1961 set-up from the wizard? If a historical game, look at the League Evolution checkbox because if turned on, the league will likely reset to add all the other (removed) teams come the next year. If you turn off Automatically Evolve League, then you get to control teams coming and going and moving and expanding, etc.
Others can check me on this, but rookies that would have gone to the deleted teams will likely be Free Agents come 1962, no? JimiP, how far are you in league play? Still in '61?

thanks, I did not set up as historical league, it was custom. Yes the deleted teams players did show up as FA's in original start up. Playing forward, in a test league, some of the rookie players from all teams wound up as FA's or not at all (used two leagues, proceeded to end of season and beginning of new year and had these 2 different results. I am almost done with first season 1961.
