Most bizarre AI signing I've seen

Played a ton of seasons in various saves over the last several years and I've come across the most bizarre AI free agent signing I've seen. This is in a regular MLB and I just completed the 2025 regular season. Checking the transactions, I saw this:

I follow things pretty closely around the league and said to myself "who the heck is Fredy Michel?"

This is who:

(these are my scout's ratings - OSA's are even worse)

and as you can see from his history he was never considered any kind of prospect. I'm also not sure why this is termed an "extension" since he was a MiLB free agent let go by Boston.

I guess this probably belongs in the Bug Reports forum.

No, that was my first thought as well but he's rated 20 across the board as a pitcher.

Something looks off. Why was he able to sign a contract extension for a team when the last transaction was he was released.

That is strange.
What is the slider setting for prospects-veterans? Is it set for strongly prefer prospects?
He does play SS and I guess his defensive ratings are ok.

This was a bug that was supposed to be fixed in the last patch. See the below:

Changelist (24.5.64):
Updated MLB roster set (need to start a new game for changes to apply)
Updated roster AI to have less major league deals to bad players
Reduced number of AI trade deals
Fixed IAFA practices not being run automatically
Fixed trade reply bug
Fixed max frame rate setting
Fixed shoe color display issues
Fixed cash issue when importing a new game (cash values get double counted in some contexts)
Fixed historical players getting 0$ salaries
Fixed owners taking cash with league set to not have owners control budgets
Fixed missing reports in online league upload
Fixed trade reputation issues
Added new fields to csv/sql output (cash available for trades, IAFA money traded)
PT: Updated PT Live Leaderboard display
PT: Fixed black card view for players on other teams
PT: Fixed loading PD after submitting choice pack
Misc GUI and text fixes
Several small bug fixes

I've seen it too post-patch, so it's safe to say that it still needs an update.

Never forget that Hall of Famer Mike Piazza was drafted in the 62nd round only because his dad was a friend of Tommy Lasorda.
