Start of Season 09, v24

Embarrassing. Period.

The Barons return to Diamond is a crash-and-burn scenario The team has lost 16 of its first 18 games and appears destined to return to Gold. Ugh.

My other two teams are weathering the storm, but the Barons are on target to lose 144 games this year...

This season has been very different than others

First of all, there are a lot of FL's who have playable cards at least at the diamond level and the best ones can play in perfect. Second, collapsing the B-A-L Gold and Diamond missions into the same time frame didn't give you FTP guys a fighting chance to prepare. I wonder what they're gonna do in a couple of years when all the FTP guys give up and they just have 100 whales with scads of PP's they've bought and nothing to do with them but rip packs.

Yep. I can see myself in the near future with a roster of mostly Perfects but barely able to stay in Gold (maybe even Silver). FTP players might be lucky if they can play past the All-Star game without losing all hope of improvement.

You are braver than I to be holding onto all those live perfect cards. Diaz is safe because he is out for the season, but the others are subject to downgrades. They are also not helping you. Are you comfortable losing 16K each if they are downgraded to diamond? You could probably QS these and buy historical diamond cards that are better in every way and have change left over to buy more.

Here is my roster for the Cleveland Locomotives which is comparable to the amount of time you spend. I login once a day to open my login reward pack(s) and basically play pack only. Although I do not buy packs with my earned PP. I play 1 daily tournament, but 90% of my entries win nothing and I do not buy PT+. The team is iron for the 3rd week because it can't get past the WC round, but who cares?

So, you might ask what am I saving my points for? For the time when perfect cards are on sale. Not just any sale, but a FIRE sale. Here are names from PT23 you might recognize. How much did you pay for yours? (and the hitters were just as cheap).

Most of those live perfects are locked as part of missions, so I'm using them until I can get better. Also, Rodon and deGrom are currently injured so they probably safe into mid-June. The ones that aren't locked will go up for sale.

Also, I'm constantly looking for a deal on a card - either a roster position or one that will turn a mission. Now and then one turns up, but I think most players are pretty aware of card values before they price them.

I seem to remember a conversation we had a few years ago where you were skeptical of the mission program and I was an advocate for it. Now our roles are reversed. I won't do the live missions until October when they are stabilized. None of the reward cards are worth the cost and the packs will open just fine in October and I won't have to lock up anything higher than silver.

I'm not sure I'll still be playing by October I think OOTP is stuck between a rock and a hard place; they have to release higher end cards early to feed the whales, but the end result of that is saturating the higher levels with "best cards" which basically condemns the non-whales to Silver or below. An almost impossible balance to increase rpofits and still be fair to the majority of the customer base.

As far as us switching positions, give it another year or two and we'll both be back where we started lol.
