Financial Problem With Historical Rosters

I originally posted this as a database bug in early April, perhaps incorrectly if I understand Lukas' reply to a similar concern I voiced yesterday:

I know at least one other user has noticed that about half of all starting players in every historical season have major league contracts worth $0. Once spring training ends they all receive the league minimum. The only variables seem to be exactly which players are affected. These aren't rookies or outliers, they are legit major league players. I'm surprised that more users haven't noticed this problem, because it obviously has a major impact on all multi-season games. I'm including another screenshot of the 1935 Cubs roster from a game I attempted yesterday just for comparison:
