What is the difference "Stay within pool" and "Pair pools together"

What is the difference "Stay within pool" and "Pair pools together" in Round Robin Advancement

I see these two options in the playoff options, what's the difference between these two.

They matter if you have multiple round robins in the first round. So say you had 4 round robin pools, A/B/C/D, where each pool advances 2 teams. Stay within pool will have the next round with the winner of A playing the 2nd place team in A, the winner of B playing the 2nd place team in B, etc... Pair together would have the winner of A play the runner-up from B (and vice versa), with the winner of C playing the runner-up of D.
