Catcher substitution logic

In my game, I had a situation where I have my two catchers in the starting lineup, Nola playing 1B and Diaz playing C, and the AI controlling everything for my team. The game decided to pinch hit Diaz in extras for a different bat, but then when the game was still tied after the inning left the PH to play C when there was a significantly better option at C in the field (Nola) playing 1B. I would expect the game to pull Nola from first to play the more important position of C rather than just plug the PH there who had no catcher ratings. I assume this might be because the PH did not have a rating at 1B? This might be worth a look into at some point.
