Generate International Free Agents
Getting a consistent crash in the following situation:
Starting a historical game (2019 in my case) and adding real minor leaguers. Then, I start defining the league/game. My goal is to put myself down in a year and then longplay out some what-if scenarios that are a little more details. I go to Advanced Mode -> Players I turn on "Generate International Free Agents." The default is that the "reveal" date is January 15th of the current year, which means that if you move into spring training, the 2019 crop has been revealed. Then, if you go to the free agency screen, you have a bunch of 16-18 year old free agents, many from DR. Weirdly, they all seem to have 100 contact potential. They seem to be treated as just regular free agents. Teams bid on them and they sign, but it doesn't seem to register as part of the "International FA cap" rules. What I'd like to do is to change the "reveal" date to July 2nd, which is when the (ahem) "official" signing period begins in real MLB. The second I touch that date, the program shuts down. Also, somewhat related, there are a lot of low level minor leaguers who are listed as playing with the 2012 Toronto Blue Jays (they are given stats belonging to Evan Crawford), and then also for a couple of random teams back in the 1890s. Actually, I now realize that last Evan Crawford bug is a problem. I just "signed" a 16-year-old prospect and he is listed as having 5 years of MLB experience. In a long-term sim, when he gets to MLB, he'll only have one year of team control before hitting free agency.
