Random Debut Years - starting at 1901
I’m going to do a report similar to metsgeek’s “Random Chaos League.
I will do the following: - Expansion in 1931, 1961, and 1991, in the same way as metsgeek. - DH will begin the same year as free agency, 1970. - Max. cash set to $100,000,000 - Injuries normal. - Trade settings normal/neutral. - 154 game schedule until 1961, when it will switch to 162. - MVP/Cy Young will be Batter/Pitcher of the Year until 1930, when it will switch to the best batter/pitcher up to that time. - Expansion teams will be actual expansion teams, defunct teams, or the Negro leagues. - Coaches/Scouts will be off until 1970. - I will recalculate for historical accuracy before each season. - All teams will play in one ballpark. (League Park II) - I will be drafting for the Washington Senators, but leave all other decisions up to the computer. 1901 Top Rookies Batters Frank “Big Hurt Thomas (8/13/11) Todd Helton (7/7/6) Hank Aaron (7/7/3) Ed Delahanty (6/1/2) Pitchers Mordecai Brown (10/8/10/7) Terry Mullane (9/6/9/8) Charlie Ferguson (9/7/9/8) Eddie Cicotte (9/8/9/6) I’ll post the first-round of the draft, followed by the Senators roster. |

World Series Preview
Pittsburgh Pirates – Without their pitching, Pittsburgh would’ve been in dead last. The Pirates lineup has pop, but don’t hit too often. The staff is lead by John Ewing (19-12, 1.87 ERA). Sandy Consuegra (22-15, 2.34 ERA) and Fred Hutchinson (23-12, 2.37 ERA) also pitched excellently. The lineup is led by Ron Fairly (.293, 6 HR, 57 RBI) and Ellis Burks (.297 BA, 4 HR, 69 RBI). Milwaukee Brewers – Milwaukee’s team is strong through and through. Will White (29-9, 1.83 ERA) leads the staff that includes Dennis Eckersley (21-10, 2.47 ERA) and Dave Wickersham (18-19, 3.34 ERA). Centerfielder Johnny Frederick (.344, 81 RBI) carried the Brewer offense with help from George Case (.324, 49 RBI) and Stuffy Mcinnis (.301, 68 RBI). Prediction – The Brewers are more well rounded than the Pirates. Milwaukee in 5. |
