Exclamation OOTP 24 patch (version 24.3.52) available!

Important: This patch is only for OOTP 24 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version. It is also available via the Steam client now and the Epic Store client soon.
It is NOT compatible with the Mac OSX AppStore version!

Hi everybody!

The last public beta was stable, so here, so here is the new patch officially, version 24.3.52.

Changelist (24.3.52):
Updated MLB roster set (need to start a new game for changes to apply)
Fixed crash of IFA screen if no head scout was employed
Fixed some GPU memory leaks which may have caused crashes in 3D
Fixed Live Start issues releasing players. Enabled KBO Live Start
Fixed a crash bug when loading construction kit parks
Fixed player service time pct for two way players
Fixed IAFA pool spending cap if exceeded limit in previous year by trading for pool
Fixed replay showing 255 runs scored
Fixed when intro music plays in-game
Fixed long-term contract display on some players
PT: Fixed missing notification
Updated manual
Several other small bug fixes

This patch is compatible with the previous version for online leagues - exports will work between versions.

Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Download link for PC (Fastspring Webstore Version):
Main server: PC Installer

PC Windows "single-folder" Version (expert only): https://cdnfiles.ootpdevelopments.co...lder_setup.zip

Download link for Mac (FastSpring):
Main Server: Mac OSX Installer

Have fun and enjoy the game! We will continue to work hard on improving OOTP 24 in the next days and weeks, of course, so keep the feedback coming

Cheers,
Markus & the entire OOTP Team

Appreciate this patch and all ongoing support, thanks! Communication from you guys is excellent.

On that note, does the OOTP team publish or discuss a roadmap of any sort for post-live focuses? I'm new to these parts, so apologies if that's a dumb question.

I'm reading through the thread about trade AI for example (as least, the non-hyperbolic posts), and wondering if this is something that will likely be looked into before I try to start a 'dynasty' or not, but I always like to know what's possible and prioritised for current versions and what may be consideration for future ideas. Completely understand this isn't always possible!

We don't typically publish a roadmap, not least because things can just be too much in flux, especially for the first little bit after a release. Also sometimes our focus may change for one reason or another and we don't like to set potentially disappointing expectations for folks if we do change focus.

We've looked at the trading and we'll keep looking at it, but we really don't want to do anything knee-jerk here and possibly make things worse. If you've noticed some of the recent comments as folks get through multiple seasons indicate that while trading might be a bit overheated in the first season, this settles down to more of the expected level in the following seasons (which is similar to what we've found).

So it's likely that there are other factors involved here, including the AI's typical tendency to like to remake the rosters a bit in the first year.

Given that this is quite a complicated issue, with a lot of moving parts, we'll likely end up looking at it even more and running more sims over the next few weeks and come to a conclusion if there are changes needed for a future patch.

Thanks for the detailed answer on the frequency of trades issue. I have miy frequency now set to "very low" thinking there would be something coming soon in a patch. I know this is very complex, and probably easily made worse, so I do understand you guys wanting to take your time and be sure before changing any code.

With your answer here noting your tests are showing a slowing down (what I am seeing in my game**) after initial the initial surplus (for lack of a better term) of trades over time I'll go back to my original setting of "normal" and see what happens. I do play my game day to day and manage every inning of my team's games. If things go sideways I'll see it in time to not break anything. I play slow enough I could always "task manager" my way out, if need be

** keep in mind my game is played day to day so my observations are not based on a long period of time.

Since changing my trade frequency from average, 54 trades in July alone, to very low, 15 trades in July, I am very pleased using this setting.

This is normal when you start a brand new league but I think the issue is people saw this even for established leagues. Sort of like '24 established a new norm for how AI looks at roster/trades so it catches up and then settles down. I can see why people would not like that for an MLB quickstart since AI is thinking longer term while many people focus on the initial season and dont' like those big roster changes it does.

Would it be possible in the next patch to have the scoring updates window in RTS auto scroll to the top?

For reference there were 42 trades from June 27 to the trade deadline in 2022.

Nothing wrong with you being happy at 15, but your post made me curious and I did a search. Frankly I was surprised the information came up so easily. Typically this stuff seems to be hidden amongst a bunch of "noise' one has to sort through.

My experience with importing my game every version is this roster adjusting is the norm. OOTP Dev. makes "improvements" to the AI roster evaluation and your new and imported games have their rosters run through it. The thing that stuck out to me was the volume compared to past versions. I posted in the dedicated(?) trade thread that there were 56 trades in v23 compared to 97 trades in v24, in my game. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...=345497&page=3

Is something off and there are too many? Or are the "improvements" more detailed and that inevitably results in more moves with the AI making "better"(?) decisions? Hopefully it's the latter.

In any case I've switched back to "average" (I think I said "normal" earlier not recalling it's actual name) and will see how it goes.

Thanks for the answer Lukas - I was only really using the trade stuff as an example, I've no doubt you have a long and constantly evolving lost to work through.

Really appreciate the communication and answers from your team on here; it's a big part of what gave me the confidence to buy the game and try it out

would love the out of town score board to be watching playoff contending teams only option. As i for one want to keep an eye on whats happening with those teams during game as we all in the real world do that when we at the game in person.

Yes please. And also I'll add my request to return the scoring updates box to the top of the in-game out of town scoreboard. It adds so much to the immersion and is the only thing I miss from the classic 3d.

I agree with Sweed that having the MLB scoreboard scroll across the top in classic mode was one of my go to items when I'm simming, but <sniff> I've recovered <sniff> and moved on... <HONK!!!> But I think r0nster is saying he wants ONLY the playoff teams scoreboard scrolled, selfishly I want all the teams scoreboard scrolled with the potential playoff teams games highlighted or outlined in the screen because I so rarely breathe that rarified air of playoff hunt baseball...lol! (Could be because I keep taking the worst teams to play with too!)

Is there an ETA on the next patch? If it's tomorrow or something, I'll wait before starting up my new game, if not, I'll just start it up tonight maybe.

they don't just release new patches they release a beta patch first. As of Friday 4/14 there is no beta out so don't expect one until next week....maybe.

Is there supposed to be some type of automatic patch/update notifications so that you don't have to check this link every day? If so, I am not getting them.
