Happy Opening Day!

I hope you all enjoy the IRL baseball day, and may all your teams have excellent openers except the Cards

For sure. Living in Savannah, I ordered the MLB extra innings package again this year, in order to watch those Fightin Phils. And I do enjoy watching other teams as well. And I'm lucky, as the stinkin Braves are blacked out, since they're considered the local team. That's fine with me.

I'll check out the Giants/Yankees at 1, as I need to see the first pitch of the season, lol. My wife doesn't understand that. And the Phillies first pitch against the Rangers. We get to face deGrom today, great!

I used to count the days starting in January. Now? I'm happy it's here but it's not a big deal. MLB has made it too hard to watch live games. I wouldn't mind paying to watch, but the only way to watch my team is with the "MLB Included
90 minute Delay (tm)". Sucks the fun right out of it.

Lucky for me OOTP fills the bill.

Come on Sweed! You and I are both old, and "Gabe" fans, but let's not get old AND cynical. Kick back and watch some games.

Even when watching the Phillies, at times, I'll lay in the recliner and read a book. I certainly do it watching other teams play. Still very much enjoy the games. It's relaxing, and even though I'm old school like you, it will be interesting to watch the "pitch clock" effect and how those "pizza box" like bases work out.

I would pay for a MLB as a streaming service if it didn't black out my market, but I don't have cable and don't want it

Don't you know IRL baseball only exists to give player ratings to OOTP?

Given the new rules and all the indications that the games will go faster, my intention is to give MLB another shot and see if the viewing experience has improved.

Let's go, Jays!

Me too, but new rules and quicker games do little to change the fact that modern baseball broadcasters talk too damn much. They also treat viewers like idiots by explaining the obvious inning after inning.

At one point MLB.TV had just a "game sounds only" option without any announcers. It was my favorite mode to watch. I'm guessing advertisers and commentators had something to say about getting rid of it.

Problem with that is, I tend to have games on while playing OOTP, so I listen more than watch. I wish there was a short play by play option available for MLB broadcasts.

Well I am 61 and a lifelong Baltimore fan. I live in Buffalo and am surrounded by Yank's fans. I've been suffering way to long.
Enjoy the MLB season.

Let's go O's

I remember when I was growing up in the 60's n 70's there was 1 play-by-play announcer and 1 color commentator. The color commentator only spoke in between plays, not during them when the play-by-play announcer was calling the game.

Too much fluff n drama now, can only watch with the mute on.

Maybe the radio, sitting on the porch, is the best way to ease into things.

I have not watched a Jays broadcast in years, so I have no idea how much unwanted chatter will accompany the play. Dan and Buck, I think, do the games. I thought they were regarded as pretty good, but I don't know.

Shulman is great as PBP. When he's doing the games, the Jays broadcast is one of the better ones in the game.
