Bench Coach

What is the role of the bench coach? How does he influence the outcome of the game relative to the manager?

I'm not sure If I think of it correctly or not but I take the bench coach as another training coach. One who is more rounded than a specific hitting or pitching coach.

I don't know if that is right or not but seeing the way the AI uses theirs I think that might be right.

I'll do my best 'The Wolf' impersonation and pull out the game manual:

Bench Coach

Bench coaches are responsible for helping the manager handle his responsibilities, especially during actual games. Bench coaches have some impact on all areas of play, including fielding. You have the option of delegating decision-making authority to your bench coach when playing out a game. A bench coach's coaching ratings affect the play and affect the play and development of players on his specific team.

If the game is realistic then the bench coach should have little to no effect on the game.

In baseball, the bench coach is an assistant to the manager and is responsible for a variety of tasks during the game. Their role is to support the manager by helping with in-game decision-making, providing strategic input, and communicating with players and coaches on the bench.

The bench coach can influence the outcome of the game in several ways. For example, they may assist the manager in making decisions such as when to make pitching changes, when to pinch hit, or when to use defensive shifts. They can also help the manager keep track of the game's progress, monitor the opposing team's strategy, and adjust the team's strategy as needed.

In addition to in-game duties, the bench coach also works with the coaching staff and players on a daily basis, providing feedback and advice to improve their skills and strategy. They may also help with administrative tasks, such as managing the team's schedule and travel arrangements.

Overall, while the manager is ultimately responsible for the team's performance, the bench coach plays an important role in supporting the manager and helping to ensure the team's success on and off the field.
