Historical Exhibition questions

I find nothing in the online manual about creating a Historical Exhibition from the main screen. If someone could point me to some documentation or threads of the forum which discuss this, I would appreciate it.

This might be a technical support question, but here it goes...

I created a Historical Exhibition tournament. The bracket included >40 teams, playing best-of-7 series. After I set it up, I saved it, then wanted to back it up. However, there is no way to back up a historical exhibition if you open it in the historical exhibition page. You have to answer 'No', but as the attached image says, if you do that, you can't open it in exhibition mode anymore.

So, I opened the file by saying 'No', then I could back it up. But now I have a game which doesn't open in the historical exhibition page, so I don't know if it will function as I expect, and not sure how I proceed from here.

Info appreciated.

Ah. Apparently my 67-team tournament was made into a regular game, with no regular season and everyone in the playoffs. Hmm. I guess there could be advantages to playing it this way, right?

The "league" will appear in the Load Game list. You can select it, rename it, etc. Plus, other options not available before will be available now. So, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Yes, it appears in the Load Game list with all the options available there, regardless of whether it is “converted” or not. I guess I wonder what the disadvantages are to the conversion…what am I losing if I convert it out of the Historical Exhibition mode?

The historical exhibition mode is a "simpler" mode, so if you don't want to be bothered by all the other bells and whistles and options, it's useful. For a setup your size, I think it would make more sense in the full game mode, as you can have a little more flexibility over the options. If you simply wanted to run a quick series, or like a 4-6 team tournament, then sometimes that can be "overkill", why the exhibition mode was created in the first place.

FYI you can also back up a game by simply copying the .lg folder from the saved games directory, if you don't want to use the backup function in-game.
