Shop Player Trade not going through

I haven't noticed this in a few versions now, but I just shopped David Bote for the Cubs and the yankees came back with a miner league player straight up. Clicked on the trade button and the next has the "complete trade option greyed out. In past versions if you shopped a player and selected one of the options, you could complete the trade right away. This trade I just tried...I clicked on the submit option and the team came back and denied my trade request. Did this change for this year's game or is this is glitch?? See screen shots attached. Thanks

The new trading hard mode removes the option to complete most deals immediately, you must submit offers and get a reply.

We will look into the logic around the shop a player. We may make a change to allow those deals to be immediately completed, although will need to evaluate to ensure no other consequences.

The only thing though, is that you may want to add on or subtract to a potential deal...and not having instant feedback is sort of the whole idea here I thought.

You can always discuss the deal and submit a counter-offer. The change would likely only be if you wanted to simply accept the offer as listed, giving you that option immediately.

Thanks Matt for the input. I always viewed "shop a player" as a more instant way of trading. Basically, I put a player out there "on the market" and other teams make me an instant offer and I can accept it or ignore it. I shouldn't have to view their offer and submit the trade request back to the team, only to have them reject it and want more. Shop a player is them offering me a deal...plain and simple. Or that is the way it has worked in previous versions.

I agree with you and have found that changing from Shopping for Single Player to Multi Player Package in the drop down relieves some of that frustration. You will get similar players offered in many cases, and can click complete from the Shop Now page without going to the Discuss section. For me, at least, that stops that immersion break of a team making an offer... and then demanding another player and some time when you are ready to sign off on it.

It's one extra step[ (clicking the drop down), but it is far less frustrating than the current system for Single Player Shopping.

Jeez, I really hope the AI wouldn't trade league-minimum and solid Oswaldo Cabrera for David Bote and his actual salary.

Yup, sometimes you are in a negotiation mood, and sometimes you just want to make a “Carvana” kind of deal with no hassle.

The Yankees trade AI really hates Cabrera for whatever reason this year.

On the hardest trade difficulty setting, I was able to send Madbum's dried up husk to the Yankees retaining only 60% for Cabrera. No attached prospects on my part, just one for one. My guess would be that Mike Hazen might just rip his shoulder clean off fist pumping the air if the same deal was offered IRL.

To be honest, Cabrera was below replacement for me in 2023, but Madbum was just brutal, finishing the season with an ERA of 7.00 + in the pen.

I was able to save a few million while getting a useful utility player. The Yankees have a lot of options in the infield and in three seperate sims now, they keep Volpe up in the bigs on Opening Day (something the RL Yankees are unlikely to do for service time manipulation purposes), so my guess is the AI sees Cabrera as expendable and since they can't unload their other infielders without options, they just ship him out instead of optioning him down to the minors.

Yeah, it seems like the AI prefers to put Stanton in LF by default, so it makes Oswaldo expendable. I just wish the AI was better at recognizing that this is a solid, cheap player that can play pretty much any position and shouldn't be looking to dump him.

I was wathcing Aaron's GM Games stream replay during lunch today and the Yankees again offered him Cabrera when he shopped Leury Garcia before cutting him.

I don't know what Cabrera did to the AI but my god is he undervalued. I'm also seeing some AI on AI trade which are really lopsided too: Toronto traded 5 players, one of them being a 70 potential 18 year old sp, for Kendall Graveman. We're still early on, but trading seems to be easier than in 23 be a good margin and there's a good bit of wackyness even with the trade difficulty maxed out.

Agreed on all fronts. I was offered Jasson Dominguez in my A's game when I was shopping Tony Kemp who was hitting below the Mendoza line. This wasn't even on default trade difficulty either.
