In the settings > 3d and facegen, try to switch to the OpneGL mode: 'Use OpenGL in 3D only'.

This exactly what I’m getting. Plus the game randomly crashes, often towards the end of match. Stuck in 2D for now, hoping for a quick fix…

I know, I KNOW I need to give the game time before jumping to conclusions, but have to say found it extremely weird in my first game that Luis Castillo would pitch 6.2 innings against the Guardians and record one strike out.

MLB and MILB awards. Is there a reason the awards are never the correct names? Is it a licensing issue to use Silver Slugger Award?

They had the right names a few days before release, but then they were charged back because of a fit thrown over a forum discussion.

Just like last year, when originally downloading the game and launching Sugar Land Space Cowboys still have the Skeeters logo and uniforms. I know it's a small thing and I could understand last year, but still. I haven't checked Beloit, but last year the logo hadn't changed to the new branding either.

We need to be able to export and import awards. Actually I'm surprised this hasn't been requested before and if it has why it wasn't added

You have the game now and these are your first impressions? First impressions is the topic of the thread, so if that is true fair enough, though meaningless when one can just type them in. No?

If not then maybe start a new thread about awards for a game you don't have, or post in the suggestions thread?

I wrote myself a note on a screen in which the Classic Skin crashed and burned for me in recent OOTPB versions (e.g., light font against light background or vice versa).

The fans in the stands at Wrigley Field are wearing red. Can this be changed or did a Cardinals fan design this?

Do you have the release build?

I believe this was an issue in the Beta, but was fixed.

The menu/graphical changes of all the screens… but why… at least 10 steps backwards in 24. Doesn’t seem to matter what resolution or font I use, nothing looks natural anymore or that it properly fits on the screen anymore and it’s a struggle to get pages to look somewhat the way they looked like in 23. Why mess around with something so much that wasn’t this bad? I’m seriously not looking forward to staring at these atrocious screens for a couple of seasons of online play and can’t wait to move on to another version before I’ve barely played this one…

I have played 2 games with the NY Mets and in both games the closer Diaz blew the save. In both games he gave up a HR.

Diaz was arguably the best closer in 2022 and am starting to wonder about this.

Diaz only gave up 3 HR all year.

I have over 1000 hours of playing OOTP23 and have never seen anything like this.

I remember coming home after a tour in southeastern Iraq in August 2009 and thinking to myself after spending eight months with a crazy Yankees fan who was our battle NCO in charge and an even crazier Royals fan who went in with me in purchasing Baseball Mogul and while I thought Mogul was ok, there had to be another baseball program that I could enjoy more.

So, I walked around our local Best Buy and found OOTP 11 and bought it on a whim (it also helped it was on sale for $20) and I was intrigued, installed it on my laptop of that time and fell completely in love with it, joined a few online leagues and went from there.

Fast forward to now and I still am completely impressed by what is out now and every year, the features, the thought processes, and the absolute intensive work that has been put into this game still completely blows my mind away.

And it keeps getting better each and every year.

Markus and his team also work not only to improve the product year to year but also continue to improve and add to the OOTP product within each year. And I give the team credit for taking the time to review and listen to all of us and our ideas, critiques, suggestions and discoveries (of bugs, cosmetic things and more) and use that to continually improve OOTP.

To those who expect a perfect product at time of release? All I am going to say is be patient. Nothing is perfect and the OOTP team gives it all they got and things will be found that will result in bugs, and believe me, they keep looking for the issues and work diligently to fix what bugs are there and eliminate them. Build 1 is not going to be bug-free and neither will be build 30, 60 or whenever the last build is released...but believe me when I can say Markus, Matt and their team work everything that is shared with them.

So, this is not honestly an initial impression, but a continually evolving impression about OOTP, the team, the fans, and the interaction between all and that this is still a great product, nearly 14 years later, even despite some setbacks and moments of pure frustration.

Markus and team....thank you.

To all the fans out there....thank you.

And to Edgar Fuentes and Brock Combs, thank you for taking Baseball Mogul off my hands and getting me to find something better...something called OOTP.

Sample size. Randomness (esp. by relievers)... and just baseball being baseball. Here's his projections for 2023 - though, frankly, he ought to be injured all year as he tore his knee up celebrating in the WBC.

Ballpark Construction Kit has the same problem it's had since the beginning. You can't simply tell it the ballpark dimensions (especially wall height). You have to fiddle fart around with the +/- buttons until you happen to hit the right number.
