What step am I missing?

Trying to create a historical league using fictional players.

In the past I could do this by creating a historical league in the year I want the league to start. I would then release all the real players making them free agents. I then delete all free agents. I then fill the teams with fictional players, clear rosters, fill teams with fictional players and then create a inuagural draft. I turn off the option for importing historical rookies and set the number of rounds and players created for the amateur draft.

This always worked in the past, but now when I try it no players are created for the amateur draft. What am I doing wrong?

Check the draft date, especially the year, in your league setup.

I went to check and it led me to finding out what I was missing. In the section in which you set the draft rounds there is a box to disable the creation of fictional free agents and fictional draft class. It's checked by default(for obvious reasons). I unchecked it and got a draft class.
