Deutsche Lige Issue with Minors

I'm currently the GM of a Deutsche Liga team starting my 7th season. At the start of the season I found I was unable to send any of my players to the DL-2 team I had previously been associated with. Turns out that team had been promoted to the DL so I can't send them players.

How do I begin a new relationship with a DL2 team for a minor team?

Unfortunately, you cannot, not even in commish mode (which is a bit of a shame).
It's a challenge - coping with the 25-men limit is hard because it's also not easy to get rid of players, as selling them is difficult and firing them will need their whole salary to be paid as compensation...
What I can suggest from my experience in playing in the DEL, try to sign 19-year-olders so that you can send them down to the U20 squad...it's easier said than done, but eventually you can find some diamonds in the raw.

That's definitely disappointing. I've won 2 DEL championships and a CHL championship in 6 years and I was hoping to ride it out until 10 seasons for the achieve. I'll try it for a season, but honestly it sounds like an unnecessary challenge compared to other teams in my league. I don't like that I spent 6 seasons finely tuning my squad only to have the rules changed and have to change my whole approach unexpectedly is unfortunate. To me it's on par with saying after 6 seasons now we're making it so you can only play defensemen.

Still love the game though. Now I can only give it a 99.9% rating. Oh well

Thinking it out, to try to find the young guys, will they no longer be able to be on the U20 team as soon as they turn 20 or will they be allowed to complete the season? If they are allowed to finish the season on the U20 squad, I would imagine if I called them up once they are 20, I wouldn't be allowed to send them back down again, correct?

Once again, unfortunately they won't be able to return to the U20 squad once they turn 20.
Hopefully the devs will eventually be able to further improve this part of the game

So I decided to continue with the save and try to sign some 18-19 YO players as backups in the minors, but when I tried to assign someone to the U20 I get a message that says "Your roster already contains 0 Overaged players."

That's odd. I can send such players down in my save with Kolner Haie. What team are you using?

couldn´t we just switch minor teams?

If your minor team get´s relegated, just add the newly promoted team as the minor team of the major team that has no minor team?

And if your minor team get´s promoted, add the relegated team as minor team of major team without minor team?

Would be great to add this to improve management in european leagues.

Agreed...at least in commissioner mode. But for now we can only edit minors in North American leagues

in a first step: we could do it automatically when switching from season to season (1st of July)
just replace the relegated team with the promoted team

second step: add it in commissioner mode to allow more flexibility for the user.

Well, while I think it would be better than what we have, it can potentially lead to unpleasant/unrealistic situations, like archi-rival teams become farm team of one another.
But yeah, it'd be better than nothing.
