Five MLB Expansion Teams
I've never just played a real life game while expanding the MLB. It would be fun to build up a farm system from nothing. Obviously the first team is Montreal (although i'll send their asses to Puerto Rico if they touch my Rays), but then the crowd behind them is a little more spread out. Off the top of my head Nashville, and Portland have posted real stadium renderings. Then Vegas has been in the mix, and so has Raleigh & Charlotte equally.
How was I going to cut the perfect division alignment up as I expand to 32? Would I split rivals for geographic integrity? Would two random divisions grow to 6? What if I just expanded by 6? Like you, I too use the Expos, but then use the Mexico City Diablos as my second team. Think I also used Nashville once.
This is generally the only I play OOTP solo. It is a real challenge, and when I do the expansion draft, I usually have teams protect anywhere from 25-29 players, and always with 4 years of service. More of a challenge. If you leave at the default, 15 players and 3 years, it makes it way too easy. You can find some really good young players, with loads of potential, and also some veterans that will help the team. My goal the first year, and sometimes two, is not to lose 100 games. And I usually have one of, if not the lowest payroll in the league. I like to see how far I can get a team on a lower payroll. Never use stars, and many times use stats only for more of a challenge, and it really makes me pay attention to a player's stats, OBP, etc. |
