What a Joy to Play OOTP!

Hey, what a great day this is!... and I just want to share my joy with you.

Just played my opening day games in my fictional South Island Supreme League and I was just overcome with great joy and emotion while watching my games play out in 3D animation.

It suddenly hit me how smoothly everything was playing out and I don't mean just the 3D animation, but the whole game... it is a brilliant creation and works almost flawlessly.

What a marvelous and wonderful game Markus Heinsohn, Andreas Raht and the entire OOTP Development Team have created.

Back in 2002 when I first began playing OOTP3 in PBP text, it never occurred to me that I would be "watching" my fictional players running, throwing, pitching and swinging to beat the band in 3D 21 years later.

Wow, what a joy!

No matter the future for OOTP, I have been blessed with a great game for over 21 years... and will be blessed for many more years, I think... I hope I don't have to play OOTP23 the rest of my life, but that would not be so bad at all, would it?.

As I play OOTP I think back to my early teens and playing Strat O Matic scoring by hand and tracking player stats on recipe cards or in a notebook. I don't get emotional enough to shed a tear but I do think about how cool would it have been to have OOTP when I was in 8th grade instead of having to wait to get it in my early forties.

No game is perfect not even OOTP, but it sure does what I need it to despite it's shortcomings. I take my glass of OOTP half full, thank you very much and always look forward to seeing what is added and improved in the next version.

If we get to a point where that doesn't come? I'll be happy continuing on with whatever version I currently have.

No, just the GREAT JOY I get from playing OOTP.

The Open Letter is done and over for me... and I accept the results... no problem at all for me... I plan to just enjoy the game.

We all need to "accentuate the positives... eliminate the negatives... and don't mess with Mr. In Between".

Oldie song from the 1940s by Der Bingle, Bing Crosby and Maxine, Patti and Laverne, the wonderful Andrews Sisters.... hope you will give it a listen and apply it to your life.

I'm with you Eugene! I've gotten past my anger at what previously happened and am enjoying the game more than ever right now.

Thanks for steering us back to the path, EC! It's so very comforting to see some positivity on the forums, and we can always count on you for that.

Thanks...

I just discovered that in v 23 you can customize your leaderboards (on your Standings page) to pick the stats you'd like to see. Totally cool!

I'm with these guys! Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of what you've got and not give it the attention and appreciation it deserves. Same with OOTP!

Yes, I agree!!! I played another game since the sixties, yes the 1960s (cards and dice) and the first versions of the PC. I cannot believe how wonderful, actuate, deep, and again smooth this sim is! I am very new to the game and I am learning each step of the way. Thanks to this community of support to reply quickly when I get stuck with some aspect of the game. I think I have listened to every you-tube video, so I feel like I know you all. Thanks for a great game!!!

I have several old classmates that constantly post on Facebook about how much better it was to be a kid in the 70/80's than it is today. They get mad at me when I tell them they're nuts. Having access to OOTP at that age would have been incredible. All that free time. Of course, my mom would have loved it too. Between my nephew(Status Pro) and myself(Strat and APBA) we must have burned through 2 small forests worth of paper keeping stats.

Easy Go to your league Standings page. Make sure near the top right (but beneath the big green Continue button) that SHOW LEADERBOARDS is checked. Then right next to that click the Customize button. From there, have at it... BOOM!
