International FA - no spending limit
I set up a fictional league with the goal of making it as player-friendly as possible. (Still waiting for a way to turn off the draft and have HS/college players enter the league as free agents.) To this end, I set no spending limit on international FA.
Unfortunately, for some reason this means no team can set a budget for this. If I try to type in any value, it just resets to 0. So, I try to keep aside at least 10 million every year for this purpose. It seems I'm the only team that does this, because I can pretty consistently scoop up all of the top international FA every year. As of right now, in my 20-team division, I have the #1, 3, 5, 8, 21, 25, 28, 34, 41, 48, 55, 74, 86, and 92 prospects all who had signed as international FA. It's a pro/rel league with a total of 100 teams. I used to have the number of FA set at default (1 per team) because in previous editions of the game it would create the assigned number for each division (so I would get 100 FA for 100 teams), but I kicked it up to "more" (2 per team) after a few years in 23 because in this edition for some reason it only creates based on the lowest league. So now I'm getting 80 per year for 100 teams (with 40 teams in my lowest division). The signing period has just started. There are currently 5 players with an 80 potential and 8 more in the blue, and I suspect I'm going to get at least 7 of them because I'm the only person with money. It's making it not so fun anymore. Is there anything I can do besides set a limit and just have everyone bid the maximum on every top player, or eliminate international FA entirely? Last edited by TreeRol; 01-26-2023 at 01:12 PM. |

I've not tried this with no limit, so don't have any insight on that.
However, I wonder how it would work if you set a very high max limit. This could possibly get around teams with no budget at all, but still allow the rich teams to spend a bunch? |

My question is why only you have money but others dont?
It might be best for parity purposes, to set a max spend cap for the international amateur free agents. Or at least include a soft cap that taxes you very hard when you go over. |
