Mfitterer Rules
I have nothing to say about the Fit Dog but, lately it seems as if the only threads that get a response are those with his name.
How many leagues out there are offering "sandwich pick" compensation for players leaving via FA? One of my leagues is currently considering this and I think it is a great idea. |

I've tried it, but it's an immense pain to do.
Love to hear how it was successfully done. |

First, for saying the M word, you get 10 smacks with a wet trout!
Second, the TLB has given compensation picks between rounds before. BOSI handles it, so keeping track of the order and who was picked was very easy. To do it in the game, we fudged it a bit. We draft 3 rounds live. In round 4, we let the computer pick until it was the turn of the team that had the compensation pick. If the computer picked the player the team chose as compensation, then whoever was picked by the computer for that team was traded for him. If not, that player was manually picked, then we finished up the draft. So, bottom line, the 4th round pick for that team was moved up to wherever they had their compensation pick. So, if you are going to have a lot of compensation picks, I'm not exactly sure how you'd handle it in OOTP. Did that just make sense? I have 1/2 brain cell left alive right now, so I'm not sure if I explained that the best way possible

Sorry buddy, little late to cash in on the Fitterer fad. When they die, they die hard so I'd be careful otherwise you will make yourself the subject of ridicule and disdain.
Starting a Fitterer thread now is the equivilant to citing a players number of game winning RBI's. |

HCBL uses the sandwich picks, for lost free agents of Type A (4.0 - 5.0 gold stars) as well as a detailed compensation procedure. The system works well, although it creates a lot of extra work for the commissioner. With the fear of losing picks, free agents don't sign for outrageous sums of money, and the small market teams can benefit by a minor league improvement if they're unable to re-sign key players.

FYI. My post about needing help with patch problems 35 reads in 24 HRS. My post about you know who 130 reads in 12 HRS. I think this backs up my theory.
