Are School Stats Indicative of Success?

There is a guy in the draft that has fantastic ratings, very intelligent, but his BA/OPS/SLG have gone down each of the the last three years at his current college. Is that an indication that he may not develop well in the minors?

Offhand, I would say that’s a red flag. Have you sent the scout out to re-evaluate based on most recent performance? How bad is the drop-off? Has the competition somehow changed? (Did the college upgrade their schedule somehow?) Any injury? I’ve learned to take college performance with a grain of salt; but that’s in the context of huge escalating stats. Bad is bad. I would avoid him.

You will see this a lot. I would not worry about it. I have seen it happen time and again with players that play more than one year at their school. I have never understood why, but the players stats will usually diminish each year. As has been said take high school and college stats with a grain of salt. Don't let the stats affect your drafting him or not.

I understand that this is done by AI but anyway it works on the basis of something, i.e. if it assumes so and makes such statistics it means that something is really wrong.
Especially considering that there are now a lot of sources like https://studymoose.com that help students with various homework assignments that really help students but mess up the statistics, I think this can be avoided by changing the assessment methodology.
