Karma. Flashback to 1998?

Michigan appeared poised to win the game after two incompletions, but a desperate heave on third down by Leaf was caught by wide receiver Nian Taylor for a 46-yard gain with nine seconds remaining. Washington State was back in business. The Cougars edged closer to the end zone with a 36-yard gain off a “hook and ladder” that placed the ball at the Wolverines’ 16-yard line with two seconds left. Leaf ran up to the line to spike the ball and appeared to clock it with one second left. However, the clock kept rolling and the officials refused to add time, dashing the Cougars’ hopes of a comeback.

Well, Ohio State blew that. I'm gussing TCU is the smart money play in the national championship vs. the spread. I'm guessing Georgia will be 8 to 10 point favorites and no way I would bet on Georgia.

Never leave it up to the kicker. I think that verse is in Proverbs.

Georgia is going to kill TCU. There. I said it.

CJ Stroud is very good. Stetson Bennett is the best QB in the country.

Yet people thought that about Michigan and they lost.

I still have my doubts about Stroud. Best WR's in the country. Little to challenge hi in the T1e4n. And refs were pretty much content to ignore offensive holding tonight. The fact he doesn't have a running game does make his performance stand out, though.

Bennett was confused in the 3rd. IDK if the OSU D changed or the UGa coaches changed their play calling. He got lucky w/the long TD pass where the defender fell. And that (correctly) reversed call on the 4th down conversion saved the day.

That's 2 critical calls that directly affected the outcome of the game today that went against the T1e4n. The upper midwest is going to be griping in the new year. One was definitely the right the call. The other was needs investigating.

Whether one agrees with the rule (and the ejection penalty, etc., that goes with it) or not, it is a rule. And it should have been called on that play; there was no doubt to any reasonable observer.

As with our discussions on poor NFL (and NBA) ref-ing, I'm still very hesitant to attribute corruption. I'm still going with ineptitude most of the time. In this instance, I'll go with "gutless" - not wanting to make that call at that point in the game.

I'll note that I, too, didn't have a rooting interest in the game...

Espically since if anything a higher up corruption would have had the refs trying to get Buckeyes vs Wolverines

Corruption doesn't have to involve the sports' leaders. It can be one rouge official for whatever personal reason. Either way, when I see nearly every controversial call or every wrong call favor one side, my suspicion meter goes crazy.

The Division 1 CFB (???) bowl teams -- what players play ?

Portal , transfers, and opt outs ....... make the teams uncertain and changes everything .

Players who opt out should have to repay their scholarship value . Never happen.

Right. But if it's a rash of bad calls - which we agree that we are seeing - then it's either a bunch of rogue officials, corruption at the top, or a rash of bad officials (& replay folks). I'm going with the latter

I can't say biased officiating is merely bad officiating.

Why are they wanting to expand the playoffs?
If your championship game has one team pulling its starters in the fourth quarter then maybe you don’t have enough talent to expand.

Because then the actual two best teams should make it to the championship game. But we really know it's all about $$

Expanding the playoffs will make it less likely that the best two teams are in the final.

Expanding the playoffs is about making sure there is equal access. Its not about making competitive games.
