Can't get game to go to windowed mode.

No matter what I try, game continues in full screen mode. Obviously missing something here? Need help!!

Are you on Windows 11?

What's your Screen Resolution on your monitor set to?

Are you restarting every time you change it?

Full Screen Mode isn't click on?

If you open your Windows settings, Search Personalization. On the side there is an option called START. If you scroll through it, is "Use Start Full Screen" option turned on?

Monitor Setting - 1366x768, which is recommended
Full Screen Mode isn't clicked on
Use Start Full Screen is Off
And yes, restarting the game when I change it.

Ah yeah. I think you're at the bare minimum for resolution for the game at 768, so it's going to always open in full screen so nothing gets cut off.

What size is your monitor? How old is it? What options does it have?

It's a Toshiba Satellite laptop, about 9 or 10 years old
15.6" monitor(screen)

Options are:
1360x768
1280x768
1280x720
1280x600
1024x768
800x600

Ah yeah. So unfortunately it looks like your only choice will be playing full screen with those resolution options available.

Hey Adam, thanks again for your help, and you'll love this. My wife is the President of the Garden Club where we live, and had to do this huge presentation in front of quite a few members and guests. Well, the old laptop takes forever to boot up sometimes, and she was panicking it wouldn't be working in time. Well, things turned out ok, but that night she said we should order the new laptop. Something I've been mentioning for a while, but with a trip planned, we were going to wait(not me) until we got back to order a new one.

I am now typing to you on a brand new HP laptop with a 17-inch screen, a ton of memory, and fast as lightning. No more worries about windowed mode with this laptop, lol.

I do have a question though. I have the steam version, and when I booted up the game on my new laptop, the saved game I had been playing on my old laptop is gone? When I clicked on load game, there's nothing there? I did download the folder onto an external hard drive, and connected it to my new laptop, but don't know where to download the game to? I looked in steamapps, but there's no "saved game" folder, even after starting a new game on the new laptop. Just can't figure out where I see the saved games.

Your saves are stored in your My Documents folder. OOTP>FHM9 > Saved_Games.

If you can't find it, start the game, click SETTINGS, TROUBLESHOOTING > Open Customizable Data Folder > Saved_Games and paste it there.
