As I explained in the post above, I change this to a "Postseason All-Star Award" for leagues that actually have this, and don't have a Silver Slugger or Best Nine Award.

I used to have awards named after things I liked...
Taco Bell Rookie of the Year Award Tractor Supply MVP Award John Deere Relief Pitcher of the Year Yeah, it's corporate like real life, but they were mine.

Sure, but he's not known as the greatest player of all time because of his pitching. He'd be a Hall of Famer if he never pitched, so it's weird to CALL him a pitcher in the situation when I'm naming the MVP after him and saying pitchers can't win it.

By the same token, because he was an excellent pitcher, you could name your pitcher award after him if you wanted to. But how much more funnier would it be to have an award named after the Sultan of Swat where hitters weren't eligible? With that off my chest, here are my awards for my Braeland League: Babe Ruth Award (pitchers not eligible) Satchel Paige Award Rookie of the Year Award Ball Hawk Award (saw that term used in the play-by-play once and liked it) Managers of the Year Award I don't bother with the other awards like the Silver Slugger Award, as they just seem like participation awards to me. And I like to keep things simple.

He also won my custom award 9 times which was just the leader in War. He was a 5 time playoff series MVP. He won 1 Gold Glove. Played on 9 Championship winners. But only won 2 Cy Young Awards. |

I usually SIM ~20-30 years to get some history and then name the awards after the best position player (I make MVP position player only) and pitcher. Rookie is usually the Greenhorn, and I do Gold Glove Award for fielders.
I turn everything else off. Edit: I should mention that I generally play fictional only. Last edited by pauwoo; 01-05-2023 at 12:38 AM. |
