I think they are hoping to buy prospects with this deal. If he has a good first half that is what will most likely happen. If he doesn’t you get your 10 million back next season. The money being thrown around for pitchers actually makes this deal look okay.

Like you, I definitely view this as a low risk / high reward deal.

I wonder with the Lorenzen and Boyd signings coupled with the "we're going to earmark playing time for the young guys" comment from Harris if Harris' plan this year is to see what we've got with what we've got. I realize there are a few months before spring training, but he hasn't done much to improve the team so far. This isn't a knock again Harris. He's new to the organization and needs to assess things. I'm just wondering what's going on.

They bought a bag of balls from Baltimore who were kind enough to throw a Tyler Nevin in to sweeten the deal.

Let it not be said that the wheels aren't turning in Detroit!

It's just 'six degrees of Kevin Bacon' material rather than a real connection but my mother-in-law had Kaline as a student when she was a young teacher in Baltimore sometime after WWII. She passed away at 96 from covid back in 2020.

Great promise but so frustrating. Hopefully, the bats he brought in trade pan out in a few years.

Getting Matt Vierlang in return could be a huge win for Detroit. Hopefully it works out for both teams.

All three that they got should contribute and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them (maybe Vierlang) improves substantially before Soto finds any consistency. As much as I liked Soto, I am happy with this trade.

I agree and think this trade is great for Detroit. The Tigers aren't ready to win and Soto's value is at a high point, so selling now is perfect.

I've watched Nick Maton all year as I get every Phillies game. He's young and just learning the outfield to go with his infield play. Can bomb a baseball. Good pop with 7 HRs in 189 AB and a .254 average. I liked this kid and I think the Tigers fans will too. For me, he's the one I didn't want to give up. Good luck.

Detroit Tigers to move in CF wall, change outfield dimensions at Comerica Park for 2023

I know there's been talk about this this offseason, but now that it's decided that they're going to do it, I'm not sure how I feel about it.

CC, being it's 2023 now, we might as well rename this thread and keep the good times rolling. Or we could start a new one again. But I kind of like having just one dedicated thread to the Kitties.

I gave it a temporary name change - shout out what you all want it called.
