Configure SQL dump / data export - Ratings

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble finding information pertaining to configuring the SQL dump / data export functions, in particular the options below:

It appears that only one of the following three options can be selected at any one time.
  • Show OSA player ratings
  • Show real player ratings
  • Show no player ratings

The next option can be selected in conjunction with whatever selection from above.
  • Additional complete scouted ratings

Can anyone explain to me what these parameters do, or point me to helpful reference material?

Thanks in advance!

Trent

The first three options you list dictate whether player ratings are shown in the data dumps, and if they are, what kind of ratings are shown.

Obviously if "Show no player ratings" is checked, then any table that contains player ratings will have values omitted for those columns (not sure if the columns are still there - I assume they still would be).

OSA ratings will show what OSA has for the player if you use the full scouting system. Real player ratings will show the actual editor ratings, and can be enabled if you have full scouting or not.

The last option will only really apply if you have scouting enabled, and concern teams that are controlled by a human manager. This will generate a separate players_scouted_ratings table (name could be wrong but it's similar). This will have a row for every player and scout combination, with the ratings the scout has for the player. If you have one team with a human a manager, a player will have a single row here. If you have two teams with human managers and scouts, then that player will have a single row for each scout's perspective on that player.

TLDR: Do you have scouting enabled? If not, then your two options are show the real ratings, or no ratings. If yes, then you can decide whether OSA, or real ratings shown in data dumps, as well as whether you want scout ratings generated, too.

Thanks Chimaera, that's a very helpful explanation.

I tried this out and the players_scouted_ratings file contains all players in the league with ratings from my head scout, as well as what I think is OSA ratings. Exactly what I'm looking for.

A follow up question if I may. I follow baseball here in Australia, and it is very small, not nearly the big business the Major League is in the U.S. So I'm a little bit unsure of how things work in the U.S., but I'd like to try play my game with generally the same information a Major League GM would have.

I don't play in challenge mode. When playing in OOTP, I can look up information for players in other teams and get the same information that is available to me for my own players, I'm thinking particularly of contract information, but this applies to stats and other data too.

So, my question - In real life, would a GM have ready access (not requiring a phone call to the appropriate GM) to the below information that OOTP presents, for players on other teams?
  • Contract information (eg. value of contract, remaining minor league options, service time etc)
  • Popularity and morale information
  • Batting/Pitching/Fielding statistics (I presume yes, this sort of data is very accessible to even fans right?)

Is there any other information that OOTP provides in game to it's GMs that are not true to life?

The league database export options provide a lot of information, but I'd like to export this into MS Access, and then extract via SQL just the information a GM would have reasonable access to, and import this into Excel for further analysis.

Thanks in advance for any insight provided.

I think the only thing that wouldn't be generally available would be player morale? There are ways of measuring popularity that would generally be available to teams (whether jersey sales, social media followers, etc...). Everything else I can't see being proprietary information.
