Player unhappy with their 'major role' in contract

I've got a rookie in the first year of his deal with me, a deal which he defined every term and I just agreed with and it now says he's unhappy with the major role defined as 'offensive forward' despite being played in an offensive role and playing well. He's like 2nd in the rookie points rankings currently, so I thought that would sort of sway him.

Is this a kink in the mechanic or is this a situation I'm supposed to rectify somehow?

It seems like his development has moved toward a playmaker role; could that be the difference?

Check the edit screen, what's his template? That's what determines role happiness.

Just checked it, his template is as below. Like I'd mentioned, he specified EVERY term of his contract, I just agreed to it, so not sure how I could have avoided this from a player management standpoint.

That's odd, with that template he should be happy with that role, so the contract request is correct, something's going wrong with his happiness. We'll have a look, but I think we might need to see that save.

What if you change the major role (via the right-click menu) to something else, then return it to offensive forward? Any difference?

God damn you're a miracle worker! That's finally done it for some reason. Is there an obvious reason it would have worked following that method as opposed to using commish mode?

Yeah, it's a check that's attached to the change that isn't there if you do it via edit mode.
