Max money you can add to Player Development Budget?
In a current game, I have it set at 26m, but was wondering if I can go higher, and have you noticed any major difference in increasing the budget much higher than the baseline of 12k?

I believe I've seen advice from others that Dev Budget has very diminishing returns once you pass the baseline and is mostly just a sink for rich clubs to throw money at and get a small advantage without being gamebreaking.
ie: It's better for everyone if the rich clubs spend $50M on dev to get a very tiny increase to their player development then if they have that $50M to spend $10m/year on each of their bench bats. |

Max for Development is $36M, but there doesn't seem to be a consensus as to how much it affects development compared to a lower value.
Some people swear by maxing out at $36M every year and some think there are diminishing returns. Most of the under-the-hood stuff on what it affects and how is still relatively unknown. |

In my experience, your money is better spent hiring the best coaching staff possible. You can get a collection of top flight personnel for far less than $36M.

I just encountered something strange with the development budget. My historical club is doing reasonably well financially, and I'm in commissioner mode, so I wanted to increase the development budget from $108,000 to $150,000. I increased it from $88,000 to $108,000 early in the season, without a problem. But after I entered the new $150,000 amount, the development budget was dropped to $44,000, and there doesn't appear to be a way to override this. Every time I try to enter a different number, it gets lowered to $44,000. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to enter the preferred number and get it to stay?

Yes, you are over budget. Go to financials and look at the lowest line. As Commish you can blow through the budget ... but there are still consequences. One of which is that you will be reduced to the lowest development budget allowed (I think half the league average amount but can't recall). You are stuck now for this year. Next year, pay more mind to the budget. It's always a trade-off paying for players now vs. investing in tomorrow's players with finite funds.

ive always maxed scouting and maxed dev and hired all the best managers for my team and minors and the amount of prospects my teams produce compared to the ai teams is staggering. easily 5x as much and often more. my minors usually all make their championship game too.
no hard evidence it does anything but i feel like it does |
