Gold Glove symbol - OOTPBB 23

Does the "Gold Glove" symbol show on a players defensive label
actually affect their performance in ootpbb 23? If so, how does a player "earn" the symbol? Some players have won multiple Gold Gloves yet not all years will not reflect this on the on field defensive label.

Awards don't affect performance, they are a result of performance.

Players accumulate the icons with each ward won. Depending on your chosen display options for awards, you will see how many and when they were won.

The on field gold glove icon is only for the most recent winners.
