Trade/Cash Question

This proposed trade (screenshot below) in an online league says I am losing $27.885Mil, yet the player contracts are as follows:

Luis Robert (My player): 3 years.
Yr 1: $26.4Mil
Yr 2: $28.4Mil
Yr 3: $34.4Mil Player Option

Byron Buxton:
Yr 1: $26.8Mil
Yr 2: $27.8Mil
Yr 3: $28.8Mil
Yr 4: $28.8Mil

Maybe I am slow here but how exactly does this make sense if the money is almost even for this season? I thought in OOTP the trades only take into account the cash for the current season when saying how much you will lose/gain. If I am wrong please let me know!

You're right about that money being only current-year money. Are you sure there is nothing else in the two contracts that you missed?

Nope, there is no salary retention. My best guess is the game is including Buxton's 4th year into the equation and saying I need that cash on hand now for some reason. Hopefully someone will have some more information about how the game is coming up with that cash number.

Do you have any tax or salary cap? If so the penalty is included.

When you acquired Luis Robert did the old team retain any of the contract, or on your Front Office>Salaries view does it all show against your budget currently? Sam question to them? Is a third team carrying any of Buxton's salary? Retention is the only thing I can think off that would show this.

Yes there is a salary cap.. but neither team is going over it in this trade.. what tax is being included here? a Luxury tax?

My only other suggestion try cancelling the trade and try again . Same players.

Can you take images of both players contract screens. Could there be an opt-out involved as well?

No. It most assuredly has to be something with the salary cap. Any trade I offer I lose 27-29mil. I recently offered a trade where I was only incurring 1.7mil or something like that, with plenty of cap space left, yet I was still going to drop 29mil. It doesnt make sense to me or the commish of the league, but it has to be something wonky with the cap/tax. Still have yet to figure it out. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
