Why would someone do this?

Why would a team set up players with >80 rating in the Perfect Team regular season and go 157-5 only to put up a shoddy lineup (<40 rating) in the playoffs to get swept? I don't get the strategy.

If he won 157 games, he made north of 100K PP. If he loses the division series, he won't get promoted and can do it again.
He should be reported for a tanking violation.

How the hell is it even possible to go 157-5? Every other team must be putting in crap line ups.
