How Does OOTP Compare?
I asked the same question in the FHM forum, as I am curious to see what different players of each (or both) might think. How does FHM compare to OOTP overall as a sports managemnt sim? Obviously they are different sports, so no need to point out the obvious. What are some of the things FHM maybe does better than OOTP?, what are some of the things maybe it doesn't do as well? I have never so much as even tried FHM, so I think it's an interesting question.
I am curious to see what people think! Maybe the two franchises can learn a few things from each other! |

I saw the following recent comment on the FHM forum, which mirrored some things that I've seen here on the OOTP forum. Quote:

Is this groundhog day? Seriously....why keep opening up these threads, just go back and read the 100 other closed ones on the same kind of topic and see it's the same people saying the same tired things. Let it go already.

While these threads are annoying at this point. It is also annoying to post about how they are going to get locked before anything has actually happened that is worth locking.

I am kind of amused by the idea that the posters think annoying and pestering and insulting the developers will somehow get the developers to do what they want.

I am sure the Devs have seen these, and there has been a lot of good stuff in them, but the problem is they always end up the same way. Why not just compile a list of things that you have issue with and post it in the Beta forum (you said you were on the Beta team) and discuss it with the Devs there, and if you need input from others not on the team, maybe DM them and discuss it there so these threads don't end up with the name calling and insults that always pop up in them. |

I just wonder why Jimmy can't start his own threads?

And to be honest talking of another company on another company forum is kind of weird...

At the same time, I just don't get the premise of the thread. These two games are made by the same company. The developers know each other. We don't need to facilitate information sharing between them. |

I think a better place to start this thread would've been just to try to get a gauge on how many people play both games regularly. Nobody has replied in this thread with any comparisons and only two people have replied to PSU's thread over on the FHM boards (both speak glowingly of OOTP, by the way). I have never touched FHM and don't have any interest in it despite being a hockey fan. That's probably partly because I have a much more intimate knowledge of baseball, but I think it's also because baseball is probably the best sport (along with maybe soccer) for this type of game. No sport on the planet is as numbers-driven as baseball is, especially with the explosion of advanced metrics within the game over the past decade-plus. That makes baseball perfect for a text sim. Does the NHL have that type of depth in terms of statistics and how they're used in roster construction? |

But doesn't the forum have an option where you can ignore or mute someone? |
