offense standing in goalie way?
Odd question perhaps....
Can an offensive player just position themselves to obstruct view of goalie??? Having never played ...only watching....it seems like being a goalie is much harder when there is so much congestion right in front of you. If i was playing street hockey...i'd tell a teammate i would be in the goalies way to give you an advantage when shooting... Thinking out loud...i assume that is where DEF man needs to come in an clear out the player..and all the mayhem ensues : ) |

Forwards do try to screen goalies, it's part of the game. Defensemen trying to prevent this is also part of the game.

Yeah, the 'Screener' role in the game typifies this and the antidote to the Screen would be the 'Crease Clearing Defenceman'. If I'm not mistaken. I was just reading the role description for CCD earlier and it stood out to me for that reason.

Thanks to Sean Avery waving his gloves in Brodeur's face, there's a rule now that you have to be facing away from the goalie if you're standing at the edge of the crease. Otherwise, its a good tactic and is used a lot, especially on the powerplay. A few players have made good careers out of screening and deflecting shots while being pretty average otherwise.
