Empty Draft Class

Hello,

I have a historical saved game that has been working fine, but recently showed some glitches after seemingly having the settings reset somehow. Now I am in the year 2014 and the draft class is totally empty. I click to enter the draft but there are no players available. Any idea what happened or how to fix this?

Not sure what could've happened there, there are roughly 250 2014 draft-eligible guys in the database. If you can upload the save (instructions here), we can have a look and try to see what's gone wrong, and if it's fixable.

Hello,

Thank you so much. I uploaded the file to the FTP site as "Panteras Tres.lg.zip".

I may have simmed past the 2014 draft, which was empty, but I am wondering how can I make sure 2015 draft is okay and what might happen to the 2014 draft class players.

The draft seems to be well and truly broken, it's on the Events list at the start of each season, the draft lottery works, and the 18-year-old players are there and have their rights set to None, which should make them eligible. They're just not showing up on the list. We'll have to dig into this one a little further, at a guess it looks like something might be broken in the draft data and it's not assessing player eligibility correctly.

Wow that is so fascinating, and I'm really sad because I've been playing this save for a year or so now. Any idea what might have caused it? I will be eagerly awaiting more info!

I also should say that all settings were reset when this happened, including reassessing players' star ratings, viewing settings, and the global currency coefficient was set to 0. It took me a little while to undo all this, and then the draft was empty. Not sure if these are connected issues.

Yeah, that tracks with what we found in the save: it turns out the game_settings.dat file was damaged and was telling the game the draft date was a year in the past. Unfortunately, there's no practical way of repairing the extent of the damage involved. The one thing you might try, and it's a long shot, would be swapping the game_settings.dat files from the rs_one and rs_two backup folders into the main save folder, replacing the one that's there. If one of those was created before the problem happened, that might set things back to normal, although there's a possibility it may not work properly with the newer data. In that case, the only thing left to try would be copying the entire contents of one of those folders (and then the other) over the save and reverting back to the backup.
