Ringer Teams in Stone League

I'm new at Perfect Team (after playing many years of regular OOTP). I've built a fairly decent team, maybe, and pretty consistently play .600+ ball in the 3 Stone League divisions. In every league, though, there are about 3 teams with outlandishly good records, and their teams are full of Ted Williams and Hank Aaron and players like that. I don't understand how these teams exist down at the low minors like I am at, and how I can ever get relegated upwards. I definitely need to play tournaments and perfect drafts, I guess, but I still don't understand how those teams exist down here. I fear there is great cheating going on with these Riinger Teams. Unless this changes I may just need to quit playing Perfect Team. Any advice?

They are purchasing Perfect Points to utilize on players OR they are taking advantage of every possible 'pack drop' via Twitch and other means.

Do I wish the game was completely F2P, yes. As a F2P it bothers me too, but I learned long ago to not worry about things I couldn't control.

Hank Aaron is basically free to build. If you're not doing missions you're not going win.

I do love that you assume its people cheating though.

Every team starts in entry pool and works their way up the ranks. Some people know the strategy to build powerful "ringer" teams, literally even before the first pitch is thrown in Entry Pool at 10:30 AM EST on Monday morning. They do it without spending any money whatsoever. Personally, I take my time in Entry Pool, but I'm ready for Rookie League at 10:30 AM sharp to blow the socks off all those mostly abandoned teams.

Yours is not the first post to notice this and to assume it must be millionaires or cheaters behind these teams. Can you not conceive that this is a computer game and like all computer games there is a powerful strategy and you just don't know it?

Let's not forget that your team can be sensational in the regular season, but fail to get promoted because you can't win the Division Series.

The Ted Williams and Hank Aarons you're mentioning are mission rewards - people completing the Live Missions by buying cards with Perfect Points or getting them in packs - and are staples of just about any team. If you don't have them yet, focus on missions first. A full cycle of loyalty rewards (35 days/5 weeks) should give you enough packs and points to finish the Live Missions and stock your team.

Don't forget your free Twitch drop packs. You can get 5 free packs per day from watching affiliate streamers playing OOTP23, and another 5 packs from the official channel when it's playing OOTP23.

Wow, thanks for all the ideas! It's just that I can build my team up and play .720 ball and be 12 games out of first, every season. Its not that I expect to win but I will never beat these teams. By "cheating", I was suggesting corroboration between several players. Some of these ringer teams have college names and I assume friends and roommates know how to gut one team and feed another to turn it into a .890 team. I do need to do more tournaments etc., probably as my first task. I spent $4.95 or something to get Perfect Points to buy a Diamond Pack and was very disappointed. I did ponder paying a hundred bucks to get 10,000,000 perfect points or whatever the amount was. So again, thanks!

So Should I Buy a Zillion PPs?

And what do I do with them? I was disappointed that when i started a month ago there was a Perfect Pack for sale for, like, 30,000 PPs or something. But that disappeared. Of course I lucked out and got a Perfect Card (Jacob DeGrom), who has been meh for me. How do I get Ted Williams and Hank Aaron and Sandy Koufax? Is that how I become one of these .850 teams down in the lowest minors?

OK, but of course I paid for OOTP in order to play Perfect Team. So it's not really F2P. I'm fine paying for good stuff, just need to understand whether I get decent value for that money.

Well, if you want to spend money, then wait for the Black Friday
sale and you can get 175,000 PP for $70 instead of $100. I'd also recommend you buy another copy of the game for ~$10 so you can start a brand new team.

DID YOU DO ANY MISSIONS?

You get three teams with one license, he shouldn't have to buy it again.

He said he had 3 teams in Stone, although maybe he had 1 team in stone for 3 seasons. It's unclear.

You are right if he has not started the other 2 teams yet.

I read it as he'd been in stone level three times... but I may have mis-read that.

I hope this is my last question. I signed up for a perfect draft and picked my team. At the upper right it says "Set Up Roster" in where the countdown clock is. Do I have to do something to finalize my roster set up so it's not waiting for me?

Money and time are inversely proportional. If you don't have the money, put in the time.

I win at Silver and sometimes Gold as a FTP guy. I know there's folks doing better than me.

.
I think an experienced player could take a team from scratch to diamond using just loyalty rewards, login rewards, and achievement points and spend no more than 1 hour per week. But, you have to start on day 1 and login every single day to maximize login rewards.

Edit: Never mind. I was silly to not realize that logging in every day and spending 1 hour a week is already asking someone to be in the top 10% of player involvement with this game.

It seems like you keep avoiding Bailey's question. His recommendation for you to do missions is the only answer that you need. That $4.95 would have taken you far in Live Missions.
