Question Prospects path to the majors question

Is a prospects path to the majors affected by whether we play as GM/Manager versus just as GM or no? For example, if I edit a player, for the better, that is currently in low A ball and want to see how he rises(or doesn't) through the ranks to see if he makes it to the majors just based on his stats, does it matter if I play as manager or not?

I don’t think his performance or progression should be affected by whether or not you are directly managing him. With one caveat. If solely acting as GM, you may want to set daily lineups, to make sure he plays, at the position you want, and at the spot in the batting order that makes sense. Once you lock that in, his play should be the same, whether you’re there or not. You can even set the strategy for him, stuff like steals and running, as GM. But the stats should be the stats, so to speak, regardless.

Glad to help. If you are as hands-on (obsessive) as I can be with prospects, there’s a few other options you could use. For pitchers, you can limit batters faced and total pitches thrown, and of course control starter versus reliever (and role, in that case). For position players, you can determine position in the field and lock in where they bat in the order. Those are all under the player “strategy” tabs, where you can also set how aggressive the player is in SB and baserunning and other factors. Essentially you are overriding what the AI manager may have done.

I recently drafted Mark Leiter Jr. for the Orioles, set many of these controls, and followed him closely through the low minors. Since he had a full college season already, his pitch count was limited, and I made sure he was in a five-man rotation. So, as you seem to want, I could closely monitor and somewhat control his progress.
