Getting back into the game - My Setup

Just looking for some thoughts. So I had this idea for a league setup I wanted to try. It's totally fictional, with all generated players. I have 32 teams set up like the NFL, so four divisions in 2 leagues each with four teams (North, South, East, West). My playoff structure is all division winners are 1-4 in each league, followed by 4 wildcards at large. That makes for 16 teams, a lot like the NBA. So yes, I suppose half the league makes the playoffs lol. I have a wildcard series, division series, LCS, and WS, each a best of 7. No DH in either league. 2021 financials and stats, with no evolution (I have found if you leave that on that you end up with guys that hit 300 home runs a season lol). Finally it's a 180 game season and perfectly balanced with no interleague play. Each team plays four 3 game series, two home, two away. I am starting the game with year 1903 (the year of modern baseball as we know it) and I am simulating through the 2021 year where I will pick a team and destroy it lol. The league has full minors and full feeders.

Thoughts?

There is no wrong way to play! Sounds like you will have a lot of back history as well. That is always important for me personally. I like to have established history and leaderboards. I can’t tell you how many times I have simmed an accurate 19th century to have leaderboards that loosely resembled the past. One of my latest tricks to get some nice variance is to change the league modifiers in stats and ai each year. I use random.org for this. So if I’m playing in the 1870’s I put in 71 to 79. Whatever year is selected is the year I input. I found that working within each decade works best with this idea. Anyway, I’m getting off track. Enjoy your setup!

I think that's the thing. I feel like a really long and established history gives a league some culture.
