Offensive Woes

My team was relegated from Diamond to Gold last season. I wasn't too worried, but then my offensive metrics were all 25th+ this year. ERA and Def. Eff were good, although Ks were a little low. Any suggestions here to bring the offensive numbers up? I'm one mission away from adding Griffey Jr. 100 card. Thinking Waner will get the bump for him.

I typically run Moderate Sabermetric with a few adjustments. Recently added Pop Lloyd, Cool Papa Bell, and Gary Carter. Switched them out for Mauer (.228/4/33 in 100+ games), Chet Lemon, and George Foster. Moved Kelly to RF, backup C but starting vs. LHP.

It's just a bad run. Don't get discouraged.

My last three seasons in Diamond are a perfect example of the ups and downs:

Three seasons back: No upgrades. Win 90 games, lose in the WS.
Two seasons back: I make MASSIVE upgrades to my team. I go 75-87 and just miss being relegated
Last season: No upgrades. I win 100 games and then get swept in the first round of the playoffs.

And I got swept against a very mediocre diamond team - no offense to the other team, but it's about as basic of a diamond team as you get. Surprised even to see them in the playoffs. While I probably have the best team in Diamond - not my league, ALL Diamond Leagues, lol. There's no telling how the odds will play out.

You will see more effect with individual player strategies complementing your ballpark setup then you will having the best cards (of course they help too!)

Also, removing Waner for Griffey will NOT help your offense in most ballparks.

Griffey is about 4 billion times better than Waner.... Maybe 5 Billion.
