I know, mm. Thanks. FWIW, I also have admiration for the Mariners, especially after having read that article that I posted in the previous page. So I am also rooting for them for that reason, too.

Yeah, well, if by some bare chance it's M's-Yanks in the ALCS, all bets and gloves are off!

Just wanted to tip my hat one last time to the M's for snapping their long playoff drought! It was a fun ride to watch and a great step for the future! Thank you and congratulations!

I have been a Giants fan since I was 10 in 1966. I became a Mariners fan sometime in the Griffey/Piniella era even though I started attending M's games in 1977. Yeah it took 12 to 15 years for it to finally stick, though it has been a burden but hey besides a 5 year run (2010-2014) rooting for the Giants hasn't been picnic either, ![]() The plight of a sports fan eh?

My short story is that I was taken to an A's game in 1982, my first baseball game, really got into the Giants in 1985 but still liked the A's for a bit, then the 1989 World Series happened, and my interest in the A's went down a lot. Then went to the Seattle area in the summer of 2000 - so, the 116-win team was my first full season as a Mariners fan - and have liked them too ever since, probably more so than the Giants now. My first Mariners game was opening day in 2001, so I saw the first game and the first win of that 116-win season plus Ichiro's first game and first hit. I attended the first playoff game that year against the Indians when Moyer shut them down, I think 6-0 and every time a jet flew over Safeco Field everyone looked up (9-11 thing) but the crowd was so jazzed that season. Though it ended on a sour note.

That wasn't cool. Still, as a season as a whole, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime fan experience.

I'm very proud of the Mariners. They played against the (cheating) Astros toe to toe and even probably played better against them than the Yankees who have a much higher payroll. I'm looking forward to next season and seeing what the GM does to improve the team further. Personally I think we should make a play at Judge although it may not be the best baseball decision.
