For those playing Random Debut

Are you seeing modern day players in the prime of their real life careers locking into lengthy runs of greatness in your random debut leagues? I have random leagues going at this time and I've seen it occur in both. The first league is using 3 year recalc. Jared Walsh came into the league at the age of 26 as part of the inaugural draft. Walsh hit a measly .302 in his first season. He then followed that up with the following, .334, 336, 309, 334, 320, 348. RBI's, 109, 106, 142, 121, 130. 121 and 128. He's hit 236 home runs.

My other random is using 1 year recalc. Javy Baez has had a Walsh like run from 1946-1949. He's hit .300 and above for all of those seasons, winning the NL batting title in 48 and came in
second in 49. He has come down to earth so far in 1950 hitting around .255. Randy Arozarena is picking up where Baez left off, stringing together .300+ seasons and competing for batting titles. Meanwhile, guys like Mantle and Aaron, while having some nice seasons, have had some seasons hitting in the .270's and seem to be riding a more down to earth career arc. Ted Williams actually came in as part of the inaugural draft, but he imported during one of his war years. He didn't play at all for the first 2 seasons. When his team, the Reds finally started playing him, he promptly took home league MVP honors in 1948. But, fell off to a season in the low .280's in 49 and is hitting right around .299 in 1950 through July.

Just wondering what's might be causing these modern in their prime guys to explode like they are. Can't imagine what will happen when a Soto or Tatis arrives.

I guess I should mention that I use a combo of recalc and the development engine. TCR is set to 100.

I do and I partly attribute it to my my low TCR setting which is 25. I assume that for me, players ratings are based on their age and ratings during the last year they played in real life. For example if they are under 27 last year IRL (2021) and had a decent year, then the aging modifier will take over in OOTP and they will have a long and very successful OOTP career compared to other young players that ended their careers early with bad stats.

Jared Walsh had a good last season (2021) and was just reaching his prime (27?) so I am not surprised the aging engine took over and his career just followed the aging arch.
In my random, I have Pete Dowling who last played IRL at age 24 IRL with a decent year but in my league the aging development takes over and he won 4 Cy Young awards after age 24.

I've had the opposite happen to Tatis in one of my saves. Came in a beast, won an early MVP but has been in steady decline since, both ratings- and production-wise.

This is with 5-yr recalc and dev on, TCR @ 75.

Thanks for posting that. As the 1950 season plays on Baez continues to struggle. He's now in hitting around .247 and his on base percentage is sitting at around .275. I will be very interested to see what happens to him in 1951.

OK, so you go to the STATS tab depending on whether they are a pos player or pitcher.

Create a saved view with all of the various stats you want to show and select that in the stats tab as the default view by moving it to the top of the list. That will set it on the main profile page as well.

For two-way players it'll show both the pitching and hitting stats as above, just no Game Log.

Let me know how you go.

The collapse continues. Scouting only at NORMAL, but the performance backs up the cliff theory here... Wonder if he can turn it around?

The answer to that question appears to be NO, with Nando now in AAA and seemingly washed up at 31...

Are you using the Double current year feature for recalc or did you uncheck that option?

Just straight up 5-year, no double weight.

Was hoping you would say that. Will have to do some testing, but I think the issues I've been having with modern players may be due to the 'double weight" feature.
