Like I said, Turner's rating are very position dependent; he is a probably a 98 if he's a 2B. Yeah, that matters, and it's the way the base game works to. Nothing surprising about it. Really nothing to complain about. I've tried reasoning with you, lmao, but you don't concede any points, ever, regardless of what I say

Good luck, big guy
So, offense neutral, he's a 98 if he's a second basemen (unimportant defensive position,) but an 84 if he's a shortstop (most important defensive position in baseball) and this makes sense to you because?

It makes no sense in baseball terms and it makes no sense *according to their internal explanation for how ratings work*

of course you can easily make PP flipping the auction house on update day (but not as much now that they limit how often the roster updates and how many cards you can own! wonder why that is!) But that doesn't explain why their roster updates are inconsistent with each other every single time.

Looking at your posting history, you're an OOTP stooge, so I guess that's my answer. I love the game too (even though improvements in the main game have dried up due to the PT focus) and I even like PT for what it is (though less so now that the sheer money-grubbing greed has been exposed.)

I don't have a dog in this hunt, so just offering some friendly advice: you lose people to your argument when you use phrases like this. As a multi-year PT player, I can tell you that Hondo's made reasonable and accurate statements. Discount them if you wish, but he's making a good-faith effort to help you.

If he's Moe, does that make you Larry or Curly?

I second this statement, and I agree with what Hondo has stated in this thread as well in a general sense.

There's so much wrong with some of bear's statements in the last few posts that I *really* want to take down in detail, but I'm gonna refrain from doing so, and just say in general that you're 1,000,000% incorrect about the PT developers "manipulating the market" with the live updates, incorrect about how the card copy limits work, and especially incorrect that main game improvements have taken a back seat because of PT.

Good day sir. Signed, Curly

As I said, there was no offense intended. But it's a pointless dialogue when only one person engages in good faith. I'm not sure if you've addressed any point I've made other than to dismiss it without providing any reasoning whatsoever, lmao - and now I'm an 'OOTP stooge'

Generally, for future discussions you have, it's good to engage with the other person's arguments and points in the way they are engaging with yours. It's much more productive.

Feel free to look back through the thread and find an example of that for me! You asked for examples and I gave you - off the top of my head - 5 or 6 egregious ones in a lengthy detailed post. Your response was "oh well if trea turner was a 2B he'd be rated higher" which fails both the OOTP internal explanation test and actual baseball reality. Now you and Ole Dishnet over there are offering only "i'd like to respond to these terrible allegations. However, I will not be doing so! Goodnight!" in response.

Yes, read through the thread again and you'll see that you endlessly complain and whine, lmao. Sure, I asked for players ratings you disagreed with, and you gave them. You're conflating answering a basic question with offering intelligent counter-arguments (which you have failed to ever do, lol).

I've made many fair points, you've acknowledged none of them. Perhaps you're just a stubborn and unpleasant person to deal with in general. This would make sense.

Either way, I'm over here LMAO at this point

“I asked your for examples. You gave me many of them. I couldn’t offer any coherent reasoning that you were wrong, so I said “actually it’s fine” because I like to pretend to be friends with the developers on their little message board” is not quite the defense you think it is, Mr. “I’m actually laughing.”

Asking for examples was to get the convo going - talking about specific examples is how you dig into the meat of the topic. You can't really be this thick?? Everyone else is laughing at you, too

EDIT: Honestly, I think you're just trolling at this point. That's on me for feeding the troll, lmao

Whether via advanced analytics or traditional stats, my man is one of the best relievers in baseball over the last three years - and this year. He has the 5th lowest FIP among relievers in 2022, with expected ERA of just 2.00 (only slightly above his actual 1.76 ERA). And yet... he's a gold card.

I understand his walk rate is high, but his insane strikeout rate and low HR rate clearly make up for it in the balance. As with Realmuto, is there any clarity you can offer as to why Williams has such a low rating in relation to his stats?

See Dylan Cease (CWS) & Sandy Alcantara (Miami). Both in running for CY Young in their league but both are un-pitchable in nearly any level of PT. There are others but these are 2 obvious players. The game is full of badly rated players whether they over-rated or under-rated.

To the contrary, both of those players have FIP's that relatively match their ratings. Williams is an outlier - but like Cease, it's his massive walk rate that rates him lower on OOTP's system than FIP does.

I honestly don't care if Williams is rated higher or not - I'm fine if he drops to and 85 on the next update (I'll keep 10+ copies just in case), I just want to understand WHY he is rated where he is. If I can make sense of it, I can accurately predict player ratings.
