Reserve Clause Suggestions
Looking for some suggestions from the community.
Want to go back and play a reserve clause game (so teams never loose players to free agency only trades). Problem is that all teams are pretty much equal under the OOTP format, there is no way a high market franchise can "stockpile talent" under the system, which is how it would work in real life (ie giants, yankees, cardinals in the 20's 30's). Suggestions from those who tried this Use international free agents? Have a regional draft round and let those teams have better first round draft opportunities? |

Yea the game doesn't really handle how things were pre-amateur draft very well. What I end up doing is using international free agents, turning off the draft, and just using the create player function to create the same number of players that a draft would create. Allows them to sign with anyone, and I've seen some teams have several minor leaguers that would maybe start in the worst big league clubs.

Turn off revenue sharing. Make media contracts based on market size. Also, the stockpiling of talent was effectively ended in 1965 with the advent of the amateur summer draft, an event that neatly coincided with the decline of the Yankees. You can recreate that by not enabling the draft until 1965 so that pre-1965 Yankee rookies still sign with NYY Last edited by uruguru; 08-10-2022 at 05:34 PM. |
