Outfield play in3D

Please fix the outfield play. The infield is pretty cool with just a couple of weird plays. The outfield is horrendous and makes me not want to play 3D anymore. I'm tired of it. I don't know why for years it's being neglected. Too much stupidness. Outfielders get to the ball, pick it up, take a deep breath, and then "oh, I'm supposed to throw it in"? Then the outfielders going back on fly balls like their running a post pattern in football. Making backwards catches. Lousy outfield play makes the game stupid looking. Oh and the one where the fielder runs to a ball in play and then decides to walk the last few steps to pick it up. I know this is done to give the base runner an extra base, but it's too silly. There are far more better ways to do that.

OOTP is not an arcade game. The thing to remember is that the animations are just a representation of the final outcome, and not to get emotionally upset about unrealistic animations leading up to it.

Red face Just want animations in a stat-based game as well

What is wrong with having animations for all the plays that we see that happen on the field to go along with the accurate adaptation of the stats that are made? Reasonable (realistic looking) animations (sliding runners, jumping/diving fielders, long throws that include cut-off throws, hearing homerun horns, hit by pitches, occasional rundowns, walk-off win celebrations, players shaking hands with their teammates at the end of winning games, etc etc) add flavor to this game to make it as real as possible and not be just a boring text playing game with no eye candy or flavor of the game. I don't think ADMIN of OOTP wants to emulate those "arcade" games where it's the best joystick user that wins and stats and strategies are not as important. I am sure OOTP admin wants to make their game a better overall PC game than the stone-age graphical Strat-o-Matic PC-like games. A few more reasonable animations are not going to make this an "arcade" game. I like how every year OOTP does a shotgun-like legitimate improvement of all aspects of their games to try and please everyone and stay within their reasonable budget for their new yearly versions.

It would be fine, but I just don't think it's the highest priority imho.

agreed. the 3d needs tightening up on infield outfield and everywhere in between. too many bad looking plays exist. its kinda funny when 3D was first introduced all the forums people were really upset and said it would ruin the game because too many resources were gonna be poured into it. i bet they are having a good laugh now since PT came out and 3D became the step child no one talks about lol. here is to hoping for a bigger jump in 3d than we got the last 2 versions.
