Closer by committee

I’d like to do a closer by committee approach

If I set multiple relievers to “stopper” would that suffice?
Looking for advice

You can select multiple relievers to be "Closer" but that might be too narrow a designation for the AI. Alternatively, you could try to have them all be just relievers with some as "Closers" in their secondary roles with no primary closer.

Think of a Stopper as a late 70s two inning reliever. Your best reliever that also comes in in high leverage situations. I actually prefer it to using a closer in my sims.

I have tried designating one guy as “stopper” with use as suggested above, and another as closer, for the ninth inning to protect a small lead. Also like to guide the AI by designating every reliever as “setup” or “specialist” or middle or long relief, with secondary roles as needed. (Important because fatigue will force the AI to find a fresh body for the assigned role, if the primary guy is too tired.). This seems to result in the right utilization of these players. The closer typically gets (or blows) most of the saves, and the stopper throws in the high leverage situations. There’s also that slider within strategy for how often the manager pulls relievers, and I tend to move that to more frequently - as long as I have a full bullpen.
