Hi there.. It is under League Settings>Rules... You have to do it before the season starts or it will grey out... Here is a screenshot: |

And kudos for wanting to turn off “zombie runners”. IMHO one of the worst “innovations” ever by MLB. There are already a slew of articles on how it skews statistics and sabremetrics, influences outcomes. All because some people are in a rush to leave.
Note that you can also change the three-batter minimum for relief pitchers, another stupid “innovation” that needlessly intrudes on a manager’s decisions on his pitching staff, in the name of rushing through the games. Of course not everybody agrees, and the joy of OOTP is that you can, as the slogan says, “play your way”. Not just game and season rules, but fictional teams, leagues, players, if you want. Or experiment with endless “what if’s”, like giving small market teams more money, and/or imposing a “hard” salary cap to blunt the economic might of the Dodgers and Yankees and Braves. Enjoy!! |

There really is a lot going on with OOTP. My advice would be to go mostly default and see the results. Trying to tweak before putting in some play time, to me, would be only a guessing game.
There are so many pages of menus and options that it can take awhile to see it all. I would suggest perusing these menus from time to time. You won't remember it all right away. FWIW us users of many years still have to search to find the option we want to change and, also from time to time find a nugget we didn't know was there. After over 20 yrs of playing OOTP I still look over all of the options. Always the first time I open a new version to scout for new things. Any time I go to a page when thinking about, or changing a setting, I will take the time to look over at least the page I'm working on. Other times it's just fun (maybe I'm the only one?) to look through those pages and marvel at all of the choices that are there. Take your time, enjoy the ride.

One more thing - that I learned the hard way. Remember to save and backup the game as frequently as you can. I’ve never (in 2+ years) experienced a crash or serious bug in the game (some have). Needless to say, a save and backup would be essential in that event. What I learned is that, if your stats go awry due to messing with the settings, it’s great to go back to a save/backup of that sim, recalibrate, re-start. It makes the learning curve less risky. Everyone needs a do-over now and then.
