Walkers news: Dec. 5 -- Trade with Peoria brings Munoz back to St. Louis
The St. Louis River Walkers have acquired right-handed relief pitcher Juan Munoz from the Peoria Rivermen in exchange for minor-league pitcher Jarod Leighton.
It is Munoz second tenure with the River Walkers, as he pitched with them during the 2038 season. He signed as a free agent with Peoria in 2039, and pitched in 63 games going 3-7 with 31 saves and a 3.10 ERA. Munoz, 32, pitched 61 innings in 63 games posting a 1.28 WHIP and 70 strike outs. He will be a free agent at the end of the season. Leighton, a 23-year-old right-hander, spent the 2039 season at Memphis where in 25 starts he went 10-8 with a 3.11 ERA. He worked 159.1 innings, during which he struck out 150 and posted a 1.16 WHIP. Leighton was acquired by St. Louis in the 2034 draft, where he was a 10th round selection. Walkers news: Dec. 8 -- Deal with Louisville lands closer Floria for pitchers Hermann and Jimenez
The St. Louis River Walkers have acquired 27-year-old left-handed relief pitcher Tom Floria from the Louisville Sluggers in exchange for 27-year-old right-handed starting pitcher Billy Hermann and 25-year-old left-handed reliever Frank Jimenez.
Floria has spent the last two plus-seasons as the closer for the Sluggers. He posted 29 saves in 2037 and 30 in 2038. Last season, Floria missed four months because of a knee injury. But he still managed to get into 20 games during which he went 3-4 with nine saves and a 2.86 ERA. For his career, Floria is 19-17 with 73 saves and a 2.36 ERA in 236 games. He has 16 career blown saves, with four of them coming in 2039. Hermann has pitched in just nine games at the major league level, with eight of them being starts. He owns a record of 1-3 with a 7.15 ERA. Last season at AAA Memphis, Hermann was 12-7 with a 3.18 ERA in 26 starts. A second-round pick in the 2034 draft, Hermann has a career mark of 89-64 with a 3.89 ERA in 207 game/206 starts. Jimenez has spent much of the last two season in the St. Louis bullpen. In 2039, he pitched in 44 games going 0-3 with a 5.12 ERA. Over 38.2 innings, he struck out 48 and had a 1.66 WHIP. In his major league career, Jimenez has pitched in 86 games going 2-8 with one save and a 4.56 ERA. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of 36-year-old right-handed relief pitcher Evan Palmer to a two-year deal worth $5 million.
The second season features a team option. Palmer split the 2039 season between Akron and Milwaukee. Between the two teams, he pitched in 65 games going 5-5 with one save and a 4.30 ERA. Palmer has been in the majors since 2038, when he made his debut with Cedar Rapids. He has pitched in 919 games and gone 56-93 with 106 saves. He owns a lifetime ERA of 5.38. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have signed veteran catcher Adam Stewart to a one-year contract worth $1.6 million.
Stewart, 34, is expected to split the catching duties with Mike Vaughan. In 2039, Stewart spent most of the season with Chicago where he played in 101 games/101 starts. He batted .223 with seven homers and 41 RBIs. For his major-league career, which began in 2031 with Chicago, he has played 652 games/592 starts and batted .222 with 35 homers and 211 RBIs. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have acquired infielder Quiang Chang from the Toledo Mud Hens in exchange for minor-leagues outfielder Jose Juarez and catcher Mario Villa.
Chang, 33, is a plus defender at second base, shortstop and third base. He is expected to be the Walkers shortstop in 2040. In 2039, Chang played in 147 games/139 starts for the Mud Hens. He batted .263 with 12 homers, 48 RBIs and 60 runs scored. For his career, all with Toledo, he has played in 1007 games/946 starts and batted .298 with 71 homers and 443 RBIs. St. Louis gave up one of its top outfield prospects in Juarez. The 23-year-old, who was signed out of the Dominican Republic, batted .266 between high-A and AA last season with 21 homers and 74 RBIs in 127 games. A good defensive catcher Villa, 26, split the 2039 season between AAA Memphis and AA Springfield. He played in 85 games, batting .245 with five homers and 29 RBIs. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have signed right-handed reliever Adam Treisidder to a one-year contract worth $2.25 million.
The 35-year-old spent part of the 2039 season with Cleveland, where he pitched in 16 games going 2-1 with one save and a 3.00 ERA. The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of center fielder Jose Segura to a one-year contract worth $2.5 million.
The 34-year-old Segura spent the 2039 season with Evansville, where in 39 games he batted .216 with 15 homers and 33 RBIs. Segura spent the bulk of his career with the River Walkers, with whom he reached the majors in 2029. In 1,087 games with the Walkers, 988 starts, he hit .221 with 244 homers and 669 RBIs. Segura is expected to see the bulk of his playing time against right-handed pitchers. |

Cruz, 33, spent most of the 2039 season in AAA, where he was 6-3 with 10 saves in 38 games. He posted a 1.37 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP. In the majors, he pitched in four games for Cleveland, where he posted no record but had a 3.18 ERA. For his career, Cruz has pitched in 19 games at the major-league level going 2-0 with a 5.59 ERA. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of center fielder Tom Blevins to a two-year contract worth $15.7 million.
The deal will play him $7.4 million in 2040 and $8.3 million in 2041, but that season also features a $1 million dollar team buyout. In 2039, Blevins hit .220 with 22 homers and 48 RBIs in 121 games/70 starts for Louisville. For his career, he has played in 743 games/475 starts during which he has batted .211 with 117 homers and 274 RBIs. All those games were played for Louisville. Blevins is expected to share time in center fielder with Jose Segura. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have completed a trade with the Green Bay Mallards that will land them minor league center fielder Jay Hurley in exchange for right-handed reliever Mario Tapia, third baseman Mike Ducatte and veteran outfielder Joe Silverstein.
Hurley, 26, spent the 2039 season at AA Binghampton, where he hit .306 with eight homers and 52 RBIs in 121 games/118 starts. In his minor-league career, Hurley has played 677 games/670 starts and batted .289 with 79 homers and 420 RBIs. Hurley was taken in the fourth round of the 2035 draft by the Mallards out of the University of Kentucky. Tapia, a ninth-round draft pick in the 2035 draft, split the 2039 season between Class AAA Memphis and AA Springfield. The 26-year-old pitched in 30 games going 4-0 with four saves and a 2.95 ERA. In five minor league seasons dating back to 2025, Tapia has gone 33-32 with 11 saves and a 4.12 ERA. He has pitched in 206 games with 61 starts. An eighth-round pick in the 2036 draft, Ducatte spent 2039 at Rookie League Johnson City where he hit .228 with 16 homers and 39 RBIs in 65 games/64 starts. As a minor leaguer, Ducatte has played in 300 games/284 starts and has batted .192 with 42 homers and 209 RBIs. After 13 seasons in the majors, Silverstein, 37, spent the 2039 campaign at Memphis where he hit .238 with seven homers and 42 RBIs in 93 games/88 starts. In his major league career, which started with Cleveland in 2026, Silverstein has hit .279 with 226 homers and 720 RBIs in 1,424 games/1,309 starts. |

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of free agent infielder Tommy Gardner to a minor-league contract.
Gardner, 30, spent the 2039 season at AAA Red Rock where he played in 128 games, batting .264 with 13 homers and 49 RBIs. In the majors, Gardner has spent time with Evansville and Cincinnati playing in 608 games/465 starts. He is a .246 hitter in those games, hitting 68 homers and 237 RBIs. A solid defender at third base, shortstop and second, Gardner will be looked to provide depth at all three positions. |

Walkers news: February 10 -- Starting pitcher Brent Autin agrees to three-year deal
The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of Brent Autin to a three-year contract worth $16.5 million.
The third-year of the deal features a team buyout. Autin, 31, broke into the majors in 2031 with Indianapolis and spent five seasons with the Racers before being traded to Indianapolis prior to the 2036 season. In 2039, Autin went 10-7 with a 4.29 ERA in 32 games for the Snowcats. For his career, Autin has pitched in 283 games, all but one starts, and gone 88-84 with a 4.60 ERA. Autin is expected to fill a spot in the St. Louis rotation. Ming Xiang and Kevin Hrdlicka should be the team's top two starters while Juan Farias should also earn a role after going 4-4 in his rookie season. That leaves Autin, Agustin Perdomo, who is coming off elbow surgery and rookie Nate Simmons to battle it out for the final two spots. |
