Coaching Staff/Trainer Guilt
Does anybody else struggle with guilt when simply hiring the best developmental coaches for their minor leagues? Or similarly, hiring the best trainer (looking at you, Rick Jameyson).
It gives such a massive advantage over the CPU when they routinely hire just average personnel. However, I also don't want to hire objectively worse personnel just to police myself. Wondering if anyone has thoughts here. |

I agree coaching has made very small progress and improvements.

I turned coaching off for that very reason. I like the idea of coaching but in actual practice it wasn't working for me.

The only solution to that I have found is let my Assistant GM handle that.

i don't know if it is a massive advantage? pretty hard to measure.
some value investing in future, others less so. if you put more into than others, you should have an advantage... i'm sure some teams spend more than others... but not many should be spending big bucks if their team sucks, which any given year the bulk fits that description. guilt? they are pixels, just play the game :P the **** i'm willing to do to pixel-players, omg.... damn right they stay down in minors a week or 2 to save a year of club control.. kidding. i actually reduce a lot of that to help AI avoid horrible contracts. get them to hit FA at a little younger age so they are useful for most of their fist contract, reduce max contract length etc. |

I completely reverse-cheese the potential hiring advantage, by instead hiring my favorite former players who have recently retired. For many, I have to coax them back by using the "make a coach" option for their retired player. I enjoy having Kruk as hitting coach way too much to worry about what his rating might be....

The answer is: the AI needs to get more competitive…not just with coaches either…but with players on waivers and some of the ones just sitting in FA for whatever reason.

I don't feel guilty at all. Besides, hiring the "best" minor league staffs doesn't always equal success. Also, those great coaches in the low minors become prime targets of other teams so it can difficult and expensive to keep them in your organization.
